Part of me refuses to believe he conned all these people into thinking he was something he’s not. Jimmy Johnson was RAVING about him. Tepper loves him. Every NFL analyst over the off-season thought the analytics approach was genius. 
 

Part of me just wants to believe that if he gets a QB who’s got “it” then he’ll succeed. But sooo much evidence to the contrary. This really may have been one of the greatest con jobs in league history.

Honestly, Rhule is a really good college coach.  It hasn't translated in the NFL.  It's just a different game, and he's not picked up on the differences.  The DBO sign, the fact he's raving about the athletic profiles of guys who suck (Cam Erving) as players, the game and time management decisions, etc.  

Look Rhule did some great work at Temple and Baylor, but I think that's where he needs to stay.

Eh, I don’t think Rhule ever did anything to earn the title of really good college coach either.   Maybe he could turn into one but that isn’t his resume. 

I still feel he is largely a college version of Ron/Fox.   Give him a poo team and his brand of football will get them to be respectable.   That’s what he did in college. Took dumpster teams and made them respectable.  But he wasn’t out their actually overachieving and doing anything overly impressive.  His teams never beat anyone of note.

      He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.

      Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers

      They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
