Could this team beat the 2001 or 2010 teams?

Rhule and Fitterer can’t draft. They had all those picks and not one single impact player came out of the whole thing. Got a decent RB2 and a CB2 who couldn’t stay on the field, plus a slew of XFL-caliber players.

The 2021 draft will go down as one of the two or three worst in franchise history — basically 2011, if there was no Cam

Can't draft or can't develop? It's hard to definitively know.

Depends if Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen is starting for the 2010 team. Matt Moore would blow this team out, Jimmy would be closer but J-Stew and D-Will would run all over this team.

Before Matt got hurt that year, he was promising. Fox also started him before he was 100% which further hurt his progress. Healthy Matt Moore would kill us. He had 8 Tds and 1 int in his last 5 games in 2009. A couple of those games with 3 Tds and 0 ints against the Brett Favre lead Vikings and the Giants.

Yeah if Matt hadn’t gotten hurt we were probably a 5-7 win team. He played great against SF and then went down.

Lot of revisionist history with just how bad Jimmy Clausen was.. 3 TDs in 13 games. And our defense? 28th in points allowed.

That defense couldn't stop this years team. Nick Hayden, Tyler Brayton, Dan Connor, Richard Marshall, Charles Godfrey and Sherrod Martin are far and away inferior to our team now.

Matt Moore, Stewart and Smitty may cook our present defense tho.

And Fox>>>>Rhule

You did selectively take away the defenders that were far, far better than our current ones.

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
