Speaking of the OC, anyone else notice the three names that were initially floated as having our interest never materialized?

Neither Bill O'Brien, Jay Gruden nor Kevin O'Connell have even been mentioned in relation to the Panthers since the initial speculation. Doesn't sound like Pep Hamilton is looking this way either.

First guess? They might not be interested or may have better options (heaven knows O'Connell does) but it also makes you wonder if the stories were bullsh-t to begin with.

...or why would they want to come here under a lame duck coach whos going to get sht canned after 2022....

Face it, Charlotte itself isn't a destination for a lot of players, save local guys...Hell even Julius Peppers wanted to leave the sh_thole that is the "Queen City". Why would you expect Matt Rhule to change that?

Maybe going to let the OC have input on the OL coach?

Mentioned elsewhere: Kubiak and his dad have ties to Rick Dennison. He'd be good.

Montgomery would know Kevin Mawae from the Colts staff. Mawae was a great lineman and a super smart guy but he's not all that experienced as a coach yet

I’ve seen that Caserio is requiring his new HC to promote Hamilton to OC.  Considering Caserio apparently was in Culley’s ear during games for game management tips, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was true.  Massive micromanager

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
