Sam Howell

QBs play in a system. Unless you subscribe to the theory of picking your guy and building your system around him, most teams try to find a QB to fit their style. So what QB do you want in what system. I want Ridder in an RPO heavy offense. Why would Howell be the best fit in our system??

At it's core, UNC's offense IS an RPO offense.

Jeez…Ridder is not a pro QB.  That Mel Kiper was hyping him so bad is amazing.  He is below average at everything

Pickett is better but not by a ton.  Ridder is not going to be a starter in the NFL and maybe never get 1 start.

I think Ridder could have a career as a backup. He's kinda what you want in a backup. Decent at everything, great at nothing, and generally does a good job of taking care of the ball.

If Fitterer were somehow able to get us one of the stud o linemen and trade back up into the bottom of the first to get Sam, that would be my ideal draft. He has the tools, and I think he'd flourish as the QB in his hometown. I'd be interested to see where he falls in McAdoo's QB rankings.

    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
