Howell's performance was impacted by a mediocre OL (he should fit in nicely here lmao).  Kid was sacked 100+ times in 3 seasons.

He also lost his top weapons to the 2021 NFL Draft:

  • 2nd Round: Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos
  • 3rd Round: Dyami Brown, WR, Washington Football Team
  • 4th Round: Michael Carter, RB, New York Jets
  • 6th Round: Dazz Newsome, WR, Chicago Bears

To be honest, I expected his numbers to take a dip considering he lost his WR1, WR2, RB1, and RB2 (and all are producing in their rookie seasons as pros). The fact that, while they did drop, he still seemed to consistently perform speaks highly for him.

People here don’t seem to understand or comprehend that UNC football is NOT UGA or Bama or Ohio State football where they just get crops and crops of these NFL prospects and can easily replace them. It is a big deal when UNC loses big time skill position players like we did last year because it takes a little bit of time and effort to replace them. Carolina has to actually develop some guys and not just operate a revolving door at WR, RB, etc.

like I’ve said 1000x before the hate on Howell and Trubisky and UNC football on teh huddle is basically because there are a numerous amount of Duke fans, state fans, and people that don’t like the UNC basketball team. It’s funny to read a lot of the comments because it is painfully obvious I am correct. Ignorance is bliss.

Quietly, one of the biggest losses for UNC was Beau Corrales. He's not an NFL prospect, but he is a darn good college possession receiver who was expected to be able to keep us from being a one man receiving crew until we could develop some youth. Instead, he got injured and left us with a damn good WR in Josh Downs but nothing outside of not yet ready youth beyond him.

Agree with this. Security blanket WR who had good hands and a solid connection with Sam. Would have helped tremendously this year not only Sam but also Downs and Morales.

Alright, I just did a 15ish minute dive looking at this dude as I dont remember seeing anything from him last year.  His highlight film is nice.  He has a classic throwing motion eerily similar to Kerry Collins.  He also has great size which I didnt know beforehand.  He appears to have a strong arm and no problem throwing to the sidelines deep.  He seems to process his reads rather quickly and dumps off when the heat gets a bit hot.   He even had a couple of off platform throws that was nice to see.

Yeah man he looks like a legit prospect although I dont see much in regards to his athleticism or ability to move out of the pocket which may be a red flag but I dont know.  I just watched 2 videos, will definitely check him out next season.

He's not Manning levels of immobile, but he can move a little:

Again lifelong UNC fan. Lived in Chapel Hill as a child. Went to games in Carmichael including the world famous Duke Carolina game. Grandfather Rams club member.

I think Howell is probably a career backup.

The only way Sammy Big Gun is a “career backup” is if he get drafted by the Chiefs.

    • The lack of discipline has seriously been our downfall the last month. Seems like we just went off course this last month and Lee won't address it. You can't just live and die by the 3 when you can attack the paint and at worst draw a foul
    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
