And around 30% of the big brained huddle gurus want to get rid of him......

Theres some thought to the idea hed be a better pure/old school RB than CMC.

I don't think we SHOULD get rid of him, but at this point I'm down with trading everybody we have thats worth anything for draft capital and literally starting all the way over.  This current group hasn't shown the ability to win anything....and we're not doing DJ any favors either.  He would thrive in a place with a strong system and top flight QB.

Most under appreciated player on this team. Am I the only one who remembers our last playoff game years back agains the Saints? Our starting wide receivers that game were (Devin Funchess, Kaelin Clay, Brenton Bersin, and Russell Shepered) not a single NFL caliber WR in that group. Had we had DJ Moore back then we would have won that game, ironically that game is a big reason we drafted DJ Moore.

I was at that game and couldn’t believe Funchess not attacking the ball in the end zone at the end, and I think Clay got hurt early in the game so we had even less than what you posted...

As pissed as I was about that loss I remember being somewhat happy that it was what lead to us canning Shula and like you said getting some WR help finally. Little did I know how things would turn out

Literally none of this is correct.

just my observations

read the post above yours for context

this post is about stats, numbers, well at least one of them as well all know you cannot simply look at that out of context, let alone just one

i feel like the huddle likes to look at a number for a certain player but for another with maybe poo number context makes all the difference

i don’t get it

from my observations having DJ at #1 paired with WRs with less talent around him would easily be a fail for any average opponent…just isn’t elite tier

Yay! Yards! Give me more yards!

DJ was targeted 163 times last season. Among the most in the NFL. You can get any WR in the NFL and produce 1000 yard seasons with that many targets. There are only a handful of WRs that were worse than DJ and one of them was Robby Anderson.

While DJ is one of the most targeted receivers in the NFL, there is a dramatic decline in 1st downs per target, catch%, and TDs per target where DJ is among the worst in the NFL. What does this mean? It means he gets the most opportunities in the NFL, but his production per opportunity is among the worst in the NFL.

DJ and Robby together are the 3rd most targeted WR duo in the NFL.

You could start Jamison Crowder and Brandon Zylstra with Sam Darnold (who is among the worst in the league), target them 273 times, and they will out produce Moore and Robby.

Jefferson, Diggs, Hill, and Adams have been targeted the same. They convert their targets into catches. Their catch% improves year after year topping 70%. DJ's goes down with the more opportunities he gets. They convert 100+ receptions with those opportunities. DJ has yet to break 100 receptions. The others on the list produce more 1st downs and TDs with their opportunities. DJ is among the worst in the NFL when it comes to 1st downs and TDs per target.

Total yardage is overrated. There are #3 WRs on multiple teams that will give you the same production as DJ, and there will be 5+ more receivers entering the NFL in 2022 that will be an upgrade over DJ.

DJ continues to trend downward while the other trend up or remain among the best WRs in the league. The rookie WRs coming into the league will not outproduce them.

We may as well be celebrating a RB who gets 1100 yards every season with 315 carries (3.5 yards per carry) for 6 TDs, and among the worst at 1st downs per carry. Then we can blame the OL and OC for his ineffectiveness.

I'll change my opinion when DJ stops the drops, sells out for 1st downs that are not perfect throws, and has a desire to fight for the endzone on every play.

I agree, I can’t think of anything spectacular play that makes you say wow.

Someone tell me why we aren’t trying to trade Brian Burns and some future picks for a QB????

A good GM would be trading Burns, Moore, and Anderson for anything they can get to build up the team. The problem here is the GM is giving out contracts to players who should not be retained. You can expect many more bad decisions to follow.

Great example is Michael Thomas.  I remember people here dumping on him because anyone could put up those numbers getting targeted that much, etc.  Now we have DJ Moore essentially doing a less impressive version of the same thing, and he's "amazing".

What plays come to mind for you guys with DJ Moore?  I can't think of a single one besides a 1 yard hitch route on the sideline, where he's hit immediately.  Sure he has the big plays here and there between the 20s.  But, he doesn't get open on 3rd down, and he doesn't get open in the red zone.  He disappears for literally quarters at a time in a game.  None of these traits are #1 receiver traits.

A real #1 receiver will show flashes of that even on a trash team.  DJ is just a good WR that should be #2 or 3 on a stacked team.

Right there with you, no panther is on the "no trade" list. Does he have faults, a couple(drops&TDs)....but in the panther environment thats not friendly AT ALL to players, he has produced. Those types are hard to find, moore is one of them. Need lots in return in order to move Moore to another team. Plus he could want to be here and take a decent salary to do so, why move him if thats the case?
