He's very replacement level though and we just drafted Tremble who showed a lot of promise. It's not as bad as it initially seemed and I understand the TE market but I just don't understand why it was a priority to re-sign him. I don't think he would've gotten this deal on the open market.

Maybe McAdoo wants to run some 2 TE sets? Thomas Tremble?

Manhertz got signed for the same amount last year, and he was utilized in the same way as Ian. Blocking TEs are a hot commodity in the NFL. Weird with the way the league is evolving.

They are hot because there's not enough olinemen worth a tinkers damn in the league.  Five on four isn't cutting it for a large majority of the teams in the league.  So they are going 6 on 4 just to give the qb another half second to throw the ball.

Thomas isn't a great blocker and Manhertz got 2 years $6M, that's nearly half as much as Thomas got...

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
