Rhule says giving CMC fewer reps at RB diminishes his value

How I would use CMC depends on how Sam looks in 2022. If Sam makes a huge leap, then I'm using the hell out of CMC to try and make playoffs. If he dies, he dies.

If Sam poops the bed again, then I'd move CMC around and limit his touches. No need to run him into the ground for a lost pointless season.

If you line CMC up in the slot on a regular basis and sometimes pull him back into the RB pre-snap placement, it will have the same disruptive effect on defensive alignment as it has when he moves out of the RB placement and heads to the slot. Maybe even more so.

His value isn't just the ability to move the hell out of the ball once he catches it, but that he can actually CATCH THE FRIKKIN BALL!!!!!!

I can't emphasize that enough, he can actually catch the ball, unlike Sideshow Bob and most of the rest of our receivers last season. Frikkin' Anderson and Thomas and just about everyone had numerous drops last season where the ball actually hit them in both hands. Multiple frikkin' times a game. And not even way out there passes, I mean soft ball, here ya go type passes. How anyone other than DJ Moore still has a job here as any type of receiver I'll never know.

Sheee-it.

Put him out there, if for no other reason, that he can make catches and he isn't terrified of contact like Anderson.

Rhule is just going to run him into the ground in the hopes of saving his own job. It won't matter what is best for the team.

He already did when he built the team around the D and the O around CMC.

If he was another race y’all wouldn’t have this conversation… since he’s a decent looking white dude…

Gurley never was talked about the same way. He was a bum RB… what’s the difference…???

Not even sure what your point is with this? Are you saying that CMC is a bad football player, or that the fans are racist because they think he has greater value as a multi position player. I know I shouldn't even engage with this, but I'm honestly curious

Rhule is def missing the point here. CMC on the field healthy is a threat that has to be accounted for. Darnold isn't much of a threat so defenses will stack 8 in the box - motioning CMC out of the backfield then potentially puts a LB on him, and that has to be accounted for. Doing so also gives Darnold a cheap read on coverage, and god knows he needs that.

What is the value in giving him 25-30 backfield touches for 4 games only for him to go down again?

This fanbase has always had an odd infatuation with him some of it is that and some of it is they are just homers. But CMC wouldn't be the first to wash out with injuries after being the best back in the league for a season or two.
