at some point Joe Brady turned into this univeral scapegoat.  And I have defended him from that.   There are literally people saying Joe Brady is 100% responsible for Sam Darnold being here and other nonsenical narratives lol.

Getting NFL HC interviews only happens if you are catching the eye and ears of the league.  I suspect they likely were wanting to feel him out for for down the road if he continued to impress and progress.

I think the 2021 Panthers were an utter trainwreck. One that really was not recognized properly.   And Urban helped saved Matt Rhule and the Panthers from getting the light on them they would have without Urban.  Because while Panthers were a seasonal shitshow, Urban was a once in a decade type debacle.

Joe Brady would have been a hard sell to bring on as OC after Rhule let him go in 2021.   No one was going to make a lateral move coming out of that mess. I suspect we will see Joe Brady again.  But you probably will want to see him on a team geared and equipped toward the pass.   All goes back to this FO and how poorly everthing was put together.  Nothing made sense.  Matt Rhule basically believes in winning like John Fox and Ron Rivera.   Him hiring Joe Brady was more a PR move to look exciting.  Which I think Rhule essentially has admitted to a degree.  All comes back to Tepper/Rhule.  When poo hits the fan you start with the people most reposnsible.  That's not the NFL but that's how we should judge it IMO.

Naw no one has ever made Brady a universal scapegoat...if you have to resort to this type of hyperbole, then your substantive arguments in defense of Brady are probably pretty flimsy.  I've heard people saying Brady was responsible for bringing in Teddy but I've never heard that for Darnold...let alone this claim that he's "100% responsible" lol.  Unless you're taking the most radical stance from like one single poster and extrapolating that like it's a mainstream criticism of Brady, in order to justify your continued blind defense of him.  I've heard many people talk about Phil Snow being responsible for bringing in Darnold because of his comment about seeing "Stafford"-like qualities in the tape.  So perhaps you should shift to defending Snow instead.

You still keep alluding to Brady's impressiveness without being able to articulate how he was impressive.  That seems like a pretty important premise to your argument.

I thought college coaches didn't translate to the NFL?  Make up your mind.

Rhule firing Brady didn't hurt his career, running Chubba up the gut on 3rd and 1 did.   Getting fired from the Panthers didn't ruin Brady's career, running THE SAME ROUTES over and over did.  Looking for a job mid season didn't hurt Brady's career, throwing to Chubba over and over when it was clear he could not catch, is what did Brady in.

Your near worship of a college coach who NEVER was a successful OC ANYWHERE, is just dumbfounding. Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson J'mar Chase and Terrace Marshal made a shltty passing coordinator look good.   Brady is the one who sold us a bill of goods.

You complain about Rhule using college coaches instead of NFL vets and then when he switches to a NFL vet,  you bitch more.  And you say its not personal.

Whatever.

Joe Brady came out of the New Orleans Saints.  And he is running his version of the Saints O.  Position coaches and coordinators hop all over the place while resume building.  That's not abnormal.

Dabo Sweeney is one of the top 2 coaches in college football right now and of this era.  If not for Bama existing in the same window people would be talking about his historic success more.  Dabo Sweeney would be an utter joke as a NFL coach.  Proabably no bigger Dabo fan on the board than me though.

Defending Joe Brady from being the Panthers scapegoat for all the mess in 2021 is far from worship.   I believe Matt Rhule needs an OC more like a McAdoo.  He always needed that.   Him hiring Joe Brady never made sense.  It was another obvious mistake.   Like so many made.  But they hired him.

Brady wasn't ready but he also didn't get the support to be successful here. I fully expect to see him again at OC in the NFL after he spends time with a much better staff and picks up some much needed experience.

In the end, it all falls on Rhule. It was his scheme, his QB and his massive failures as a HC that led the way in 2021. Pretending it was all Brady just let you know you the level of BS you are looking at. Hell Rhule is still building a run game around CMC. SMDH, some people never learn.

Need to roll with Golden Corral. As a Carson first supporter, Corral was my next most accurate top prospect. Rhule prefers scramblers and he was QB1 on McAdoo's board as he was last year until the Willis, Pickett hype as long as you don't **ssyfoot and let the man play it's a great pick. If he's OVERRHULED...

Maybe one day Brady will pan out, but Brady has NEVER been a successful offensive coordinator ANYWHERE.   Rhule has been a successful college coach turning around two programs.

Was Rhules fault for hiring a dumbass college level coach who didn't know shlt like Brady,?  Yes.
Did Rhule fix it?  Yes

The love for a college level passing coordinator who had hall of fame NFL talent against college DB's and one year as an assistant at the aints is dumbfounding.

Love you some Joe Brady I guess.

Love away.

I haven't seen anyone else bring this up yet so I will. Everyone knows about Russel Wilson going in the 3rd round and being great but most forget that he wasn't the first, nor the best to do it. That would be Joe. No, not Namath but Montana

In the 1979 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Montana at the end of the third round with the 82nd (Corral was 94th)overall pick. Montana was the fourth quarterback taken (same as Corral), behind Thompson, Phil Simms, and Steve Fuller, all selected in the first round.

He also was brought in to run the original WCO and didn't have they hype nor best skill set ever but he did have certain skills which worked very well within the system he was drafted to play in. While never being the most talented QB in the league, he was the most successful behind Brady and on par with Bradshaw. He was also 6-2200lb.

Now I'm not suggesting Corral is the next Montana but there is no reason to believe that his skill set isn't perfect for McAdoo's system and the WCO in general.

Meh, you way overvalue his college work. Most of it sounded like poor offenses and Snow's D.

Lol fix it with McAdoodoo? More like settled for the desperate coach looking to get back into a real job after having to consult last year. The good coaches wouldn't take the job, remember that? You make it sound like we got a great coach when it was a guy no one else wanted to hire. But he has NFL experience? LOL that the bar has to be that low to make Rhule look good.

I never made Brady into more than a promising coach with way too little experience for that job with upside, the love you speak of is in your mind alone. The fact you are comparing Rhule to that is all that needs to be said. He isn't worth propping up but as a salesman. His coaching has been terrible. His running of the organization has been terrible. He just isn't a good NFL coach let alone an NFL HC. His record supports all of this.

Lol, so true. In one of many other threads there were discussions about Brady, Montana and Wilson among the non-first round QBs. I mean, I’m hopeful we’ve got some potential but dear lord, expecting that we found a future HOFer is insane. We aren’t that lucky.

This is like Christmas Day for Carolina Panthers optimists and homers.

The draft picks are still all shiny and new.

Almost anything seems possible.

As does Brady's.  The only reason he was our OC was because of the season at LSU.  He wouldn't have been on anybody's radar otherwise, and you know it.

I absolutely agree with that but it only supports what I said about Rhule and his other people. That was what made Rhule hire outside of his Baylor flunkies. That is on Rhule, just like Rhule is on Tepper for being clueless.

I said I liked his upside and he was way overpromoted. I can't say anything that positive about Rhule. I really don't know how else to say about it.
