Clifford’s record is a hell of a lot better than Tepper’s, so yeah, it’s not concern but whining when posters say “I’m not following the hornets anymore,” “worst franchise in the NBA,” “LaMelo is leaving in 2 years.”

This is a roster that had a winning season just last year, and a coach who is the most recent man to take them to the playoffs.

if you’re gonna try to one-up me, using my justified comments on David Tepper’s incessant failures is an interesting way to go.

We know Clifford's record. If it made any difference he would not have been fired in the first place. Both Tepper and Jordan are bottom tier owners in their respective leagues until it has been proven otherwise. Moves like this do not help change that reputation. I sincerely hope this works out. And come on man after all the trolling that has taken place in the Panthers section which both you and I have taken part in you're going to be bothered now by posts like that? I'm not going anywhere and I don't want LaMelo to either. But decisions like this embolden fools with the worst takes about this team like SizzleBuzz.

They accomplished nothing when he coached here so why not do it again...do the new red flag laws apply to MJ? He needs an evaluation.

Obviously nobody else wanted the job. They probably had to overpay Clifford just so they could have a coach. Just sad to be a fan of the Hornets

Well, that is exactly the problem here. MJ and his emotional decisions are killing this team. You have to evaluate the consequences of something like firing a coach who is doing a pretty good job and what it will do to prospects to replace him.

Many said before it happened that unless you can get someone better, you keep what you have. I get that the play-in was a complete embarrassment 2 years in a row, but are we better off now from a coaching standpoint?  That is debatable.

Stop meddling, MJ!

It seems to me MJ was just hellbent on making the new coach keep the assistants on hand. Even when you listen to Mitch, he says that the coach isn't the biggest thing. The dysfunctional mindset of MJ rears is ugly head once again. I'm rooting for Steve as a fan but I am leery because we have a talented team but a young team. I dont want to see Bouknight and Kai turn into Monk or Vonleh...

Lot of casuals and whiners in here. Clifford is the last coach to take the Hornets to the playoffs and he’s always had guys play hard for him, but he’s never had a roster as good as this. Soon as LaMelo makes one no-look pass in the season opener, every one of y’all will be excited again.

Oh, and the Hornets can sign him to the max when they want. I’d maybe rather have had D’Antoni, maybe, but let’s be honest. D’Antoni was a big name. Philosophically, he was OG Borrego — and that didn’t work. Clifford won 48 games with Kemba, Big Al, Lin and a bunch of janitors. No team he coached 1) was paired with Mitch as GM, and 2) had this level of talent.

This roster could make a good coach like Cliff a great coach like a Brown, Jackson. This is a much better roster than with Cho, Mitch did this.

Jordan just took a huge weight off his shoulders. He knows Cliff has got this. Honestly I think Cliff would have had these guys better prepared for the playoffs the last two years.

He's a much more seasoned coach than JB AND the organization just happens to know and trust this man. I'm starting to feel better upon having slept on it, much like Duren.

Bro is there really Clifford stans on this board lmao. Cliff is going to limit Melo offensively and play privy to the vets. Mason Plumlee about to average 38 mpg and so will Hayward when not on the bench with a bandaid. I guarantee we take a step back next year.

Jordan’s not going to let his plan C head coach run his moneymaker out of town that much I’m sure of.

I’m not bothered by them, I get being aggravated because Clifford wasn’t my first choice. I was playing devil’s advocate and pointing out that all is not lost.

    • I don't think so. I think once you're measuring electronically, the spot is where the sensor says it is. So if it says half yard short of the line to gain, that's the spot. Now how that works with scrums and the ball moving on two minute drills and poo is anybody's guess.
