People may disagree about McAdoo's talent based upon his stint as HC, but as OC, he was pretty damned good. Some don't want to give McAdoo credit because he had OBJ (and Eli), but OBJ's best seasons (talking only the healthy ones) by an appreciable amount (of production) were under McAdoo. They were some of Eli's best as well. I suspect that some may be criminally overlooking the new OC, but I can easily see him having the most immediate, if not dramatic, impact on the 2022 season for not only what he will do for designing a game plan and making adjustments on game days, but the behind-the-scenes installation of an entirely new offense. Our passing game should benefit greatly (and apparently D.J. Moore agrees).

There is a lot of deserved negativity towards the team and HC but I have to acknowledge that they have made a great effort to address many of the problems.  
McAdoo is a great addition.  They revamped the OL in free agency and the draft and now have a starting calibre QB who should be at worst, slightly better than Darnold not to mention a rookie with potential.  
 

Not sure how or if this will translate to wins but the focus was there in the offseason.

This has been discussed ad nauseam in this forum.

His successes are as glaring as his failures. Also he has thr major red flag of not being able to get employed in the NFL for most of his post-HC career, which is a giant red flag. At least he has legitimate NFL HC/Coordinator experience which no previous Rhule coach has had.

Ultimately, TBD how it works out. I suspect anyone believing he will be some sort of savior is going to be sorely disappointed. That said, I would imagine he is an improvement over what we have had under Rhule.

I just wonder what the real reason he couldn’t get another job. Was it truly his merits or was he blackballed for benching Eli

Teams seem to be preferring the new younger stat driven coaches/assistant coaches when it comes to offense (especially if they ever were within 3 feet of Sean McVay). He seems like a strong personality to take on as an assistant and these younger coaches probably want their own guys. His drop off as a head coach doesn’t help his case either…

I'm interested to see how he utilizes the TEs in our offense. 

Looking at his history he was a TE coach before he was Aaron Rodger's QB Coach and in his stint with NY his TEs had moderate to good production behind OBJ being the #1 target.

Ian Thomas/Tommy Tremble could very well see 40 receptions this seasons and upwards of 600 yards receiving. 

I am cautiously optimistic.

He got millions of dollars to do nothing after he got fired (had two years left on his contract).  Maybe he wasn't looking that hard and then decided after that money dwindled to get back into coaching.

That's true but he is an upgrade from what we've had.  If we could just get rule fired and hire a legitimate head coach.

He was interviewing during that time though, it’s not like he went totally off the grid.

I don't think there is any conspiracy theory. Personality conflicts happen all the time but truly talented and capable people will keep getting hired.

I think one of the most interesting things to watch is the offense we run. Rhule keeps talking about having a run first identity as a team but that is not the offense that he has actually run. 

There seems to be a pretty big disconnect between what Rhule claims to want to be doing offensively and what we actually do on Sundays.

      Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.

      Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
