Campen was a fine add.  I still largely look at the top of the food chain if I were to rank the 32 NFL staffs.

I at least think I give Snow decent credit.  I don’t go around trashing him.   And I’m not shy about doing those things, I’ve always said he has been the key to Rhule’s success.  Which he clearly had in college.  But I wouldn’t call him a great NFL DC.

I think the staff is improved.  But I consider it bottom 3rd of the league.   So I wouldn’t call it great.

Fair enough, since we aren't going to know one way or the other until we start playing for keeps.

Potentially

I was pretty excited about getting Campen. He's well respected around the league and has a solid resumé.

If there's a downside to him, it's that the last two or three head coaches he's worked for have all been fired after one season with him.

(granted, some would say that's not necessarily bad) 😐

As far as Snow, i kind of feel like the flipside of what was said. In my opinion, it's been the talent we have on the defense carrying him while his schemes are weak.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

I get the sense that we were bested in individual drills but proved better in team competition.

Not necessarily a bad thing...

I walked away with that, too.  It's a team sport, so I'll take that as a win.

The Pats have had a lot of successful teams in the last 20 years that might not have won a lot if individual drills, but put them on the field together and the total was a lot greater than the sum of the parts.  Not a bad situation to be in.

Speaking of coaching staff, I get the impression that the  lesson Belichick may learn this year is just how good Josh McDaniels was.

(or at the very least that Matt Patricia isn't exactly on the same level)

When this commercial came out... my boss at the time's name was Michael Dumarr. However, I called him Mr. Dumbass. This was the only timein my life where it was forgiveable to call my boss Dumbass.

I've said a thing or two in prior jobs that I could have (or arguably should have) been fired for.

I thought McDaniels was probably the best choice in the last round of coaching interviews.

I'm not absolutely certain he's going to be a great head coach, but I feel pretty comfortable saying then in the OC transition from him to Matt Patricia, there's going to be...a dropoff 😕

A lot of whining about our beat reporters. Personally I think we have a lot of good writers, Joe is great over at the Athletic, Ellis is great at the Observer, Panthers.com has a lot of well written pieces.

What we don’t have is the “breaking news” crowd.

I take writers over breaking news tweets any day, but maybe I’m old school.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
