CMC injury status?

If he's not there, then we can pretty much notch an L for this Sunday's game.

It will also add about 200 degrees to the seat temperature for Matt Rhule if we get that L.

Honestly, if I were on the team and injured, I might take my time getting back onto the field. Killing yourself for Rhule and Co. just doesn't make good career sense.

Rappaport said Tepper is patient with this decision. Stop being fuging patient. CMC only lasted until week 3 last year. They need to pound the ball with Foreman, but Rhule has no idea what to do with talent that Fitterrer signs. As if they don't talk or he just forgets they're on the team.

It says something if in year 3 we still can’t win without CMC on the field.

It speaks volumes. Also that sometimes we can't win with him out there, particularly when we game plan for less touches for him.

In all honesty, it'd probably work better for us if we just went to pure wildcat, installed CMC as the "QB/Wildcat" and put an extra blocker on the line every down. The kid can probably pass as well as PJ Walker, since he can apparently do everything else (he does have a passing TD to his credit if I recall).

Heck, he'd probably be safer that way.

    • Several of those guys you listed are upgrades over Bryce and several more are potential upgrades.  There will be other starting(or former) QB's coming available too(Geno Smith, Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, etc). Or there are backups that can clearly be upgrades(Mac Jones, Jacoby Brissett, Davis Mills, etc). Now, how realistic any of these options are is questionable. For any of the acquisition options, price would be a big factor. For any of the older veterans their motivation for even wanting to come to a team like this is pretty questionable. That extends to several other FA candidates, as well. Are we operating in a therotical world where Bryce is still here and presumed to be the starter? That is going to eliminate some options. Are we operating in a theoretical world where it is a "competition" and Bryce is still here? Or is Bryce gone completely? Those are all factors that make various of these scenarios both more and less "realistic." But, if the question is can we upgrade over Bryce? There is no question we can do so through free agency or potentially the draft.
    • The whole “pick up the fifth year but also bring in competition” is the weirdest take. you only pick up the fifth if he’s the guy. You don’t bring in someone to “push” him if you think he’s it. throwing a seventh or whatever at a project isn’t relevant either way.
