Just rewatching it now and he's regularly drawing an extra blocker.

You learn a lot about players with seasons like this. Obviously as Panthers fans we have a lot of experience with these kinds of situations.

I don't know if Brown will ever "live up" to his draft position, but he's definitely turned into an NFL caliber starter. And he's still out there playing hard for a worthless team.

He was an absolute force for that Rams line to handle

with cmc aging and or being traded with burns, and brown blooms into anything worthwhile he is next to be the top contestant on most wasted player

And then horn

cam>Luke>cmc>Chinn>  Possibly brown>horn

is this the tradition Tepper is trying to continue?

I’m surprised the light came on for Brown this year. He showed flashes as a rookie but definitely had a slump in 2021. He’s definitely worth keeping around through the next coaching staff. There’s a lot of good pieces on the defensive side of the ball to build a playoff caliber defense. Hiring a guy like Demeco Ryans could be the right move and develop them into an elite unit. They’d need a top quality OC though.

    • Bryce is a really smart kid and I'm sure he knows all the answers to the test but he hasn't been able to overcome his lack of physical tools and other DC's know this and play him accordingly. I think Bryce has good processing but when the correct read is the WR 30 to 40 yards down field and you have a defensive lineman coming at you what can he really do? He just doesn't have the arm to effectively and consistently hurt the defense and I think that's what's gonna do him in.  Pime example look at the INT versus Dallas last year when Thelien was wide open down the seam and Bryce threw it from a clean pocket and the ball was way short. Dc's watched that and knew that Bryce can't throw the ball deep.
    • I'd give Bryce until the trade deadline to prove he's the answer and if he's not I'm dumping him for whatever pick we can get and I'm riding with Dalton the rest of the way.  2 and a half years is enough time to determine if he can be the QB going forward so for Bryce he needs to come out over the next couple of weeks and show that. The other players in the locker room don't wanna waste another year of their careers waiting to see if you'll ever figure it out.  If you took a poll of the players in the locker room I'm sure they'd rather lose with a respected veteran Dalton who at least gives them some creditability versus losing with Bryce who the entire media will say was let down by his supporting cast when in reality it's Bryce's physical limitations that are holding this team back.
    • I agree that he should’ve never been the pick at 1. In my 44 years I’ve never seen a team invest that much in a QB who is my size. I’m not meant for the NFL and neither is he.    Accepting we can’t change the past, I think it’s the correct call to keep playing him hoping that he will prove us wrong. I think we were dumb not to draft a QB this past year and let him learn and compete but that’s our reality.    I’m hoping this is the last year with the BY experiment and he deliverers us 1. To the playoffs or 2. The number one pick and we draft a real QB.
