I've said this before about PJ.  He's got a active arm but couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a banjo.  His accuracy is poor.  Throwing downfield with PJ is like throwing a punt.

Eason at least looks the part.  He did ok until his Int.  I feel bad for the guy because he really gave us a small spark until the Int.   I would ride with Eason this weekend.  He can't be any worse than PJ.

He averaged almost 70% completion in his prior 2 starts.  PJ sucking as a QB doesn't actually excuse what our staff did on Sunday.  It has been proven here and other teams have proven you can scheme up some basics for virtually every QB that doesn't belong on the field.

There are things PJ can't do.  There are things he can.  They simply opted to not do what he could.

Sorry to say. But Baker just may have played his last Panther game. Ligament tears take time. Eason may take over this O and...not suck? I liked what little we got of him yesterday. Except that last throw anyway.

Baker is hurt and played poorly. Not sure we could get much out that.

I was doing cardio and rolled my ankle in a pothole. My ankle started swelling immediately and the whole bottom of my foot was purple. It took me 2 weeks just to be able to walk on that foot again and months before I felt I could jog again and it still gives me trouble. Now I don't have a state of the art medical staff nor did I go to the hospital, but you are correct that it is a lingering injury.

I just don't understand how they can start PJ after this past week.  That's the gameplan when he's the starter?  Not throwing the ball at all?  Might as well roll the dice on some waiver wire guy with a subset of the plays available.

Just snap it to #22, screw the middle man

No, it will be PJ and Eason this Sunday.  The order is irrelevant.

Whatever is ailing Baker will either be resolved by Sunday or it will be a mad dash to get Sam ready by the Sunday after. Baker may be the next trade if we're not careful.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to give him a shot after seeing him play his 5 games here.

How hard is it to get a QB in here that can throw downfield? Like surely some of these college guys who went undrafted but put up crazy stats can throw the damn ball down field. At this point the Panthers should be bad, but exciting. Not bad and also horrendously boring

I'll say this much. At one point in the 2010 season, we started a guy named Brian St. Pierre. The guy had, up to that point in his career, had thrown 5 passes total in 7 years. To no surprise, he played as expected for someone that barely saw any action. But they still allowed St Pierre to throw deep and, my god, for one moment, there was actual hope.

That said, he then threw two pick-sixes but you know what? It didn't really matter because to this day, I still remember that touchdown throw. What was there to remember from Sunday's game?

It's not a matter of want to. It's a matter of who's healthy. Who sucks the most seems to vary week to week. At this point it doesn't matter to me.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
