Depends on who you believe.  A first and say a 5th probably gets cmac traded.   No team in their right mind is trading 2 firsts

I think its somewhere between this what robinson is saying and what Jones is saying.   Which is probably, they are asking a lot but would take a first in the end"

the biggest message there is that they see CMC as an aid to a young QB. We know the direction the team is going the rest of the year now.

If CMC were on the blocks and I were Fitterer I would be playing up "several teams have inquired about CMC".  This is the best way to increase his value.

That said, I think we are listening but don't have any real plans on trading any of our stars.

No matter what the pick is they are drafting a qb in the first come hell or high water.  Would be nice to have their pick of all of them but they are getting someone.  I thought up until yesterday we would be in the pick 5 range but after hearing Wilks say that Eason may be starting, Darnold not ready and baker not the starter even if healthy seems to me shenanigans are afoot and I like it

To trade cmc the strategy is easy.  Call the chiefs.  "Ive got an offer from the bills, send me your best and final"  I would call the Bills "Ive got an offer from the chiefs, send me your best and final"

I don't see the point in trading CMC unless someone offers a good deal. I.E. 1st round pick. CMC can be a great safety valve for the rookie QB we draft next year. There's also an out on his contract after 2023 where we can save 8m and 12m in 2024/2025 since his contract is non-guaranteed 2023-2025.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
