Now that Robbie is gone, who is (or who should be) our #2 receiver?

It's not about talent, it's skill set. In my mind it's

X: Moore, Shenault

Flank: Marshall, Higgins

Slot: Smith

That's the depth as I see it. Could Smith play flanker? Maybe sure but I think you're better off working mismatches or pulling safeties attention with him.

Shi probably has shown the most potential but Shi is a slot guy at this point.  You can't just take that type guy and throw him on the outside.  Then it doesn't work.   Shenault falls into this too.  He isn't the type WR you put on the outside because that isn't what he is.

On the outside I think you simply rotate TMJ and Higgins on the outside.

Here's the interesting thing about Shenault. If we hadn't picked him up this season, you could make a strong argument that this team would still be winless. Seriously. If you take away his two big catches in the Saints game, I don't think the Panther would have won.

A 1-5 record is terrible, but it' better than 0-6 🙄

Shi Smith seems to be the number 2 already. Why I do not know. He gets targeted enough that he is most likely the first read. Why I do not know.

FWIW, per the official depth chart, Shi is listed above all of them:

Position    1st                 2nd                        3rd
LWR   - DJ Moore  Rashard Higgins    Laviska Shenault Jr.

RWR - Shi Smith    Terrace Marshall Jr.

Probably hanging out with Tavarez King somewhere.

I say let Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ for you laypersons) get the snaps and see if he's worth trying to salvage.

Either it works itself out or there's lingering pain there that will require some work (lul)

Baker would have been on IR after his first game.

Smitty is a different cat, but all he needs, is to see the same flame in your eyes that he has in his.

Thats why Jake could go right at Smitty without Smitty decking him.

They've both mentioned it at different points.

Steve wouldn’t just snatch his throat out.  He’d take his manhood first.  Show the rest of the players he ain’t “it”.  Then after demoralizing and emasculating, he’d break his nose.

    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
