Finding a QB is hard

We may have our qb on the roster I was just about to create a thread but hopefully this will suffice. How did Icky look his first few weeks under Matt’s silly rotation, horrible! How does he look after getting time to learn and work on his craft without fighting for his position with a guy who was deemed to have to short of arms to start the year before lol. Now fast forward to Matt C based off his film and college production he’s a good qb. He now needs tutelage to take the next step plain and simple he has all the tools but will we coach him up and put a few more playmakers on offense (a speedster at WR to compliment DJ TMJ and Shenault) I’m starting to think he may be the future.

Yeah, its really impossible to fairly judge Corral on the very tiny body of work he had in the preseason, working with 4th stringers, hardly getting any practice reps.  Nobody would look good under those conditions.

Rhule was just an unmitigated disaster.

One other thing I'd throw in on this topic...

Don't always be looking for "the next" whomever.

I know a lot of Panther fans love the idea of finding the next Cam Newton, but you also have to realize that player may not be out there in the current draft pool. And even if they are, would they be compatible with the kind of scheme our new head coach wants to run?

Plus, just frankly, when you're looking for a clone of someone you liked in the past, You are by definition limiting your choices and may end up missing someone who could be just as good even if they're not the same style.

Just stick to trying to find someone who can win in the NFL, whatever style of player they might be.

    • I'm not to sure it's a solid argument to try to estimate what he will do this season, BUT he's had a solid 3 years in the league. Here's his numbers compared to Jewell's for the same time period. I can see the logic of getting a starting MLB for a (at best) WR4. AT, XL and Tmac are certainly our top 3 guys IN 2025. Certainly worth pondering.
    • Training camp just started and it's already starting... https://www.facebook.com/reel/24277303321904901/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v LOL No one believes you and you have fan pages sharing this with a "Play him or trade him" headline. Oh wee mayne. This is why no front offices wanted any part of this.
    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
