Even if we do well down the road and he hires a good, innovative OC, he’ll get poached by a different team for a HC opportunity.  Then he’ll have to hire someone else.  Rinse and repeat

We shall cross that bridge if we get there.

Also, maybe Wilks gets the best out of McAdoo down the stretch? Do they both get to stay?

No matter what happens. We need to make sure we have one of those OC Assistants waiting in the wings. Lose one, promote one. Rinse and repeat.

One thing i know about football is this, there are NO sure things…….lets just enjoy the moment.  Let the season play out, let’s see how he and his team finish up!  No guarantees that Wilks will be great just like theirs no guarantees on the young offensive minded coaches being great……. Just got to roll the dice!

That seems true but there is different ownership up there. Maybe it doesn’t work as well here as it did there for them. I think a lot of people here saw McD as a really good football guy that could be a HC, and wished things had worked out differently. If only he’d stubbed his toe in Buffalo.

Brandon Staley was a DC before he got the Chargers job, but you seem to have listed him among offensive-minded coaches if I'm reading your list right.

He was a QB in college. But you’re right his coaching experience is on defense. In any event…the vast majority of these impressive young QBs are being coached up by offensively minded head coaches. Hell…Brian Daboll has Daniel Jones playing well enough that Victor Cruz is banging the drum for him to get an extension. He was all but a bust last year. Daboll is an offensive minded coach.

B. Daboll is doing a great job with Jones but it's his staff that's doing the work.  He sets the tone of the team and gets his coordinators to implement his plan.  Your head coach doesn't have to be a offensive mind to get the talent out of your offense.

We've shown more improvement and fight in 2 games with Wilks than we did in the 2 1/2 years Rhule was here. Even McAdoo has looked better with his play calling with Wilks providing him direction. I wanna see how we look at the end of the season, but he's earned an interview right now and a chance to lay out his plan for the future weather he wants to stick with McAdoo or hire a different OC.

Yup, and this is one of the primary barometers for Wilks. Wins are nice but did the team show steady improvement and development during his time? If so, it's perhaps even more impressive since his staff was not chosen by him and he seemingly had zero prep time before stepping into the role.

The play calling definitely has been better lately.  I don’t think McAdoo sucks as much as others think he does (although that game plan against LA was absolute shite), so if the offense keeps it up and we keep them both, so be it.

there’s just a history of successful OC’s getting hired elsewhere for HC opportunities.  Constantly promoting from within is what got Rivera fired and Doug Pederson even though he’d just won a ring like 3 years prior.  We’ll see what happens; it’ll be interesting for sure!
