If Wilks weren't from Charlotte and a former member of the staff, would you still want him as HC next year?

Were you happy with Rhule?

I didn't want him initially given he had no head coach experience and worse brought his college folks along. But I had no idea what was discussed or what he could do so I supported him until I didn't.  Now though I want a guy with experience as a head coach whether he is an offensive or defensive guy. I am tired of developing coordinators hoping they work out long-term.  It usually takes years for them to figure out how to be a head coach.

Honestly Wilks being a member of the Rivera staff is hurting him on this board.

fans are projecting grievances from that era on to him.

are they still projections tho if they manifest themselves on the field?

I’ve also always found it ridiculously odd where someone was from mattered or was a factor in any sense when choosing the best candidate, particularly during the Hurney area, he’d legit trade draft picks just to draft a loser from the area

who the fug cares about all that anyway?

Remember that time the Hornets drafted JR Reid? Remember that time the Panthers drafted Armanti Edwards?

You HAVE to take feel good emotions out of hirings/picks.

Wtf… Dumb analogy that has nothing to do with this situation..

It's a perfect analogy. My mother visited me recently and said she likes Wilks because of his Charlotte roots. That's what science calls a "result". Both JR and Armanti were chosen because of their roots. Wilks being local should mean absolutely nothing.

So the fug what?? Reid and Edwards were draft picks who hadn’t proved anything in the pros.. Atleast Wilkes has proven to be a competent coach and could be better if given a full season to implement his philosophy into a team.. Instead of cleaning up somebody else’s mess.. Bad analogy all around..

Wilks has also proven nothing. Was a failure at Arizona and then got us a handful of wins. Big whoop. I'd expect most NFL coaches could string together a handful of wins. In fact, most do.

Tell the room why you like him so much.

We really going to do this Bullshit??

If we go by 1 year to start a HC career then

Belicheck

Zac Taylor

Ron Rivera

Sean Payton

Andy Reid

would have never been HC they are now..

Espcially when having a rookie QB they didn’t want..

plain and simple if Wilkes prove 1 thing this season is he is competent and can win with his Philosophy no matter what he has to work with..

Wilks, not Wilkes.

But you do you, man. If he stays, you can support him through thick and thin. No bashing allowed! If he goes somewhere else, you can follow his career.

LOL,,  fans minds, change by the hour lol.  I was reading the in game post on here yesterday,,  and I was SHOCKED ,,  after the first drive , we scored,,  at the number of fans posting ,  Give Darnald and extension,  lock Wilks up now.   And I mean LOTS OF comments.  You can go back and read them .   Just like the GET RID OF WILKS group were no where commenting after that first TD ..  Then we were up 14-0  ..  and WOW, I just knew  the hire Wilks group were  putting a Go Fund Me  page on facebook to raise money to help Tepper hire him ..

Mine has never changed. I want an offensive minded head coach that is in tune with the way the NFL is headed. Nothing Wilks has done has changed that.

I don't think we've ever had an offensive minded coach.   George Siefert probably was, but when he came here our team was pretty much a wreck.  I'm not defending him at all,,  he was worse than Rhule probably, but he didn't keep pee'ing on our leg and tell us it was raining like Rhule.  Siefert had Rice, Montana , Steve Young etc.  When he got here he was left with Jeff Lewis at QB .  Wesley Walls flourished under Siefert , he drafted Steve Smith ,  Dan Morgan, Kris Jenkins but never coached them.

We've seen some defensive minded coaches have some superior teams and win super bowls.   Who are the great offensive minded coaches that won super bowls ?  That's not a smart @ass question, I'm curious as what others think .   "Greatest Show on Turf" , or Air Coryell   "  vs the Bear down Bears ( Monsters of the Midway)  or Ravens., or the Steel Curtain , or The Doomsday Defense.,  or  The Orange Crush,  The Purple People Eaters  ..  The No Name Defense ( the only undefeated team )

Yes, you have to have both.  Yes after the last 3 years I want to see some offense.  But you better be able to play defense first.

Give Wilks a two year prove it coaching contract with the right to assemble his own staff and input on drafting, team building.

We handed him a sunken ship in week six and somehow he was able to bring it home and keep it in contention until the end of week 17. AFTER trading CMC and releasing Baker Mayfield. And he was man enough to send Sideshow Bob Anderson packing after he showed out on the sidelines.

And somehow, he made Sam Darnold at least intriguing if not relevant again.

The man should get the opportunity. If we don't do it, someone else is going to and he's going to beat the snot out of us every time he gets the chance. And if you want to entertain dreams of Luke coming back to coach, it's not going to happen without Wilks in charge.
