Doesn't that go for any style Offense?

If you execute in an uptempo offense yes you can score but your D wears out just as bad as a run team that doesn't score and gets 3 and outs.

Up tempo is definitely a double edged sword.

You can have a balanced offense that keeps the other team off the field.

We really need to leave the Rhule trash by the side of the road where it belongs.

Neither Rhule nor Wilks had anything to offer Darnold when it came to QB training or experience.  Frank Reich has it in spades, with an astounding history of getting the most out of underperforming QBs.

Now, I'm no Darnold fan, not by a long shot, but I do acknowledge that Frank Reich is likely better qualified  to determine whether Sam is worth retaining than anyone who happens to be posting in this forum.

Agree to disagree. Darnold is trash. Don’t my want his ass on my team anymore. Hopefully Reich and co is smart enough not to have anything to do with him. Which I think they are. Darnold has shown nothing since he has been in the league.
I don’t understand why any Panthers fan wants him back. But we do like mediocrity and going back to stuff that doesn’t work. So I am not surprised people seem to think Darnold will STILL work out despite 5 years showing he won’t.

Up tempo hurts your defense and gives guys like Mahomes, Brady, Burrow more possessions.

That's not a great recipe

Any offense that goes 3 and out repeatedly hurts your defense including your precious Foxball scheme that the Panthers have used forever.

Just because a team runs an up tempo offense, doesn't mean they're going to score in 60 seconds or go 3 and out, and be right back off the field.

Watch college and high school football. All that running QBs/RPO/spread stuff that you hate is not only where the game is, it's where the NFL continues to slowly move to as well.

It all sucks. It's terrible football and the only reason it's moving it's way in is because HS and college coaches being lazy about their job.

Kids are coming into the nfl unable to run a real offense.

Football is a kids' game. The spread/rpo stuff is just as legit an offense as playing under center. It's just different.

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating that we keep Darnold.  He simply doesn't appear to have the capacity to read and react with the proficiency required by QBs in today's NFL.  That said, Reich should be given the benefit of the doubt should he decide to retain Darnold on the roster.

Pretty sure the playoffs were all young qb's with top ranked offenses

Idk I kinda doubt Reich sold Tepper and Fitterer on continuing the Sam Darnold reclamation tour. Unless he takes a minimum deal to be a backup/camp arm he's likely seen his last days as a Panther.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
