Bradley Chubb?  He was the #5 pick in the draft not 29th.  Guess I am missing something here

Broncos traded chubb to the phins for one of their 1st(I think it was the last 1st form the 49er deal). It was 29th this year, member they trade all the picks for russy...

Yeah just noticed that.  Chubb has been pretty average so not a bad deal if you like Sean Payton

Late first and future 2nd........after theyve been fumbling the coaching circuit?? I hate it, but this was like pulling your backup parachute and it works....

I guess Shane Steichen must not have impressed too much in interviews. On paper rolling the dice with Steichen (or Kafka) and keeping your 1st round pick seems better than having Sean Payton but I guess I can't totally blame them for not wanting to take another chance on an offensive coordinator with no head coaching experience.

Ben Albright wasn't a fan of this because he noted that a lot of what makes Payton's system work are some things that Russell Wilson isn't really that good at.

How much of Payton's "system" was because he designed his offense around what Drew Brees could do?  And does he have the ability to adjust his "system" to another qb.  Fwiw, Payton made Teddy Bridgewater and Jameis Winston look better, albeit it short stints.  Can he do the same with Wilson?  I guess we will find out.

That's the operative question.

    • And you know this how? Stay in your lane, junior. I'm pretty sure I'm a lot older than you, am a whole lot more experienced with life, and have watched football in earnest probably longer than you've been alive. I agree, but I was talking directly about injuries. As far as the economics, I'm assuming that Moton would have to take a pay cut and would probably be compelled to if he wants to stay in Charlotte. He seems like a thoughtful and practical guy. He knows that he's getting older and realizes the nature of the business. Hell, last time there were were questions on whether he would be here the last season. Dan and Brandt were dialing up the pressure. I don't think they're going to go into any type of contractual extension discussions without having a backup plan--i.e., a person that will appear to be Moton's replacement. And, to be honest, that person may be Moton's replacement depending how things go. But, I get the impression that Moton wants to be in Charlotte (unless he's developed some undying desire to chase a championship somewhere else).
    • It would be pretty fun with something like this. 3 on 3 the first 5 minutes, 2 on 2 the next 5 minutes (after a stoppage), then 1 on 1 (after a stoppage) the rest of the way. I just feel like this would be equal parts entertaining and chaos to watch
    • I'm more surprised our odds to win the division didn't really improve that much after free agency (like +380 -> + 320). I threw a few hundred on us to win the division again at +425 back in February, just because I figured Atlanta and Tampa would get worse. After our free agency, I am still surprised Tampa is the favorite to win the division.
