it's a new era. the game has changed. you have to have a top QB or you will be left behind.

From listening to Frank over the past few weeks he clearly indicated that they are not going to go with the old qb stereotypes.  He's looking to evolve the offense to meet the current direction the league is going. Luckily for us there are a lot of prospects in the draft that can accelerate that transition.  But they've got to be smart and accurate as well as a high character guy.  I think I would start there and figure our odds of getting that person or persons.

10 years ago probably the highest rated QB would be Tanner McKee from Stanford. Now you have to be very mobile, which was actually one of the knocks against Stroud until the GA game. It wasn't that he wasn't mobile, it's that he didn't run much.

You have to be a guy that makes stuff happen one way or another. you have to be dynamic and you have to be someone who can not just get their team motivated but the fans charged up as well.

pretty much Cam Newton is the template for the modern day QB. You can win with your arm or win with your legs. you just get the job done. this has proven to be what works best in the league now. this is what puts you in a position to win championships.

If Young was 6'2" he'd be a Trevor Lawrence, Andrew Luck tier prospect.

If Young was 6’2 and like 220 maybe. It’s not his height that concerns me. It’s his playing weight being like Pat White where average NFL hits have a much larger impact on you because even the smaller guys have like 20 pounds on him. Dline folks that get their hands on him are going to injure him.

It’s like people don’t remember when 200 lbs Taylor Hienicke couldn’t make it 2 quarters before breaking his arm via a sack from Grady Jarret.

Weight AND bone structure matter.

No one else does.

Thats a good deal for me, most times have shown Im right and even in recent times as well...... When the guy you are drafting instantly becomes either the fastest guy in the league or 2nd, the top 1% of 1% athletically, and has top 10 arm strength.   Dam shame about the dog deal and his laziness about learning/watching tape. But coming out of college he a 100% hacked version of a madden QB, in fact he was banned(then nerfed) too. He only lost one college game as well......He was incredible in college and i still say hes in the next level of "cannt miss" QBs.

Lol...nope  its just because no one builds a defense like that. The mindset has changed  but the principles will always work, if you work them.

That was 20 years ago.

It's 2023 my friend. Also you realize that Ravens defense was arguably the best defense in NFL history?

Defense was so great it has a 30 for 30 about them. Sheesh!

Yes I realize that..too bad they couldnt win in this era.

Won't work well enough. The game has changed. It favors the offense. You try to build a defense like that and roll with a mediocre QB and you're going to get rolled more often than not.

That Ravens team and season was an anomaly. We rarely see a defense dominate with mediocre QB play because it just doesn't work except in rare circumstances.

Defense doesn't win championships anymore.

I think the Eagles would beg to differ with you. Had their defense shown up they win. A complimentary offense and defense wins championships. You have to score a lot of points sure but you better be able to prevent the other team from doing the same thing.  Your offense cannot consistently keep putting the defense in bad situations either.

The Chiefs won this Superbowl because of a defensive TD. Mahomes only had 180 some odds passing.

Rams win the year before in a low scoring game via defense

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
