If only we could dismiss the 2nd rounder we gave up for Darnold so easily - rather than harping on about it every other thread.

We've given up a lot (and we now don't have a WR corps), but at least they've moved with conviction up to #1 to get THEIR guy... whoever that is.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Panthers acquired the No. 1 overall pick from the Bears in exchange for D.J. Moore, the No. 9 overall pick, a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick.

The move gives Frank Reich the chance to handpick the next face of Carolina's franchise. He was a sound offensive coach in Indianaoplis but never figured out the most position in football, cycling through Jacoby Brissett, Phillip Rivers, Carson Wentz, and Matt Ryan following Andrew Luck's retirement. Most draft pundits have Alabama's Bryce Young as the top quarterback prospect in the draft, but Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Florida's Anthony Richardson will be options for the Panthers. For Chicago, the move fills their extreme need at receiver and allows them to add more talent on either side of the ball. Already having found their future at quarterback with Justin Fields, they had no reason to stay put at the top of the draft.

      Does anyone actually think Bryce will actually be good?

      My father played Defensive End at Ohio State so naturally my kid is a huge Ohio State fan to go along with his being a huge Gamecock fan due to my ties to the school but last year he swore up and down we needed to draft Stroud number 1. I don't know if it was just being an Ohio State homer or what but he kept watching video after video of highlights and said Stroud was the future for us.  This past season he now claims we should have taken Rattler with one of our later round pics due to him saying he will be one of the huge steals of the draft and will be NFL ready within one season if it takes that. He said if Bryce busts completely we would have a future top QB to turn the team over to with Rattler taken in the fifth. From his prediction last year I'm starting to believe maybe they should hire him as a consultant for a few bucks a week. Hell, he is 13. They could pay him $50 a week for consulting and he would would think he is rich!

      Yeah we know he is short blah blah blah. I don't have a ton of faith in Young to be the guy or the future but damn that joke is older than the why the chicken crossed the road.
