Ummm Fitt signed him not Marty, it was ridiculous the money he gave him and Dante Jackson.

Yeah this one and DJax is on Fitt though I’m sure they were signed at Rhule’s insistence. Got to give credit to Tepper for finally recognizing Rhule was a mistake and proceeding accordingly. This has been the most intriguing offseason in years.

It’s rare for players to take outright pay cuts.  Kudos to Ian for agreeing to this

He was overpaid. He knew it. Fitterer probably said take this still-over-market-value-for-you pay cut and stay with the team or get released and struggle to make another roster since blocking TEs aren’t really in hot demand around the league.

I like it, it makes keeping him on the roster palatable.

He should take a job cut...

Maybe that's just me..

I love the potential of Tremble with Reich but don't really see where Ian Thomas is any better than a rookie we could draft late on Day 3.

This suggests our floor for the TE room through 2024 is Hurst/Thomas/Tremble. Probably good for middle of the pack in the league.

Thomas or Tremble would be easy to move on from next offseason if we find better options. I still want to keep Tremble around since he's so young. He's only 22 years old.

With the signing of Hurst to be the starter I could see Thomas requesting a trade and Fitt told him that it would be impossible with his current salary.

He knew he was stealing...but you take it if they hand it to you.Good, things settling in where they need to be.

Now we can concentrate on true positions of need.

It really seems like Fitt is cleaning up Rhule's messes, starting last year when they traded away Anderson.

Seeing all the competent moves we've been making to pick up talented players at decent prices this FA, it really seemed like Rhule was telling Fitt and co. "Get me this player no matter what. He's OOU/versatile/went to Temple" so we shelled out bad contracts to Elflein, Thomas, Anderson, etc.

Really makes me wonder what we could have done with Fitt having control from the get go. Still not sold on his drafting thus far but Rhule could have been a very loud, very incompetent voice in the room swaying the team towards talented college players but meh NFL players.

I was told by a scout Rhule personally drafted fletcher and they were all like "WTF?"

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
