All right panic moments over for me. I'll trust this supposable all star staff to get it right, but it might take me a bit longer to buy that Richardson Jersey than that Young or Stroud Jersey.

You think the NFL is going to get rid of the combine? That's like the only viewership NFL network gets for March

If the NFLPA wants it gone, then they will get it gone. NFL will just televise pro days.

The NFL combine is fan fare. Players do it all

again on their pro days. Players are measured when they do visits to teams. There is nothing from the combine that should play any role in deciding your quarterback.

we are merely a couple years away from the combine not even being in existence. don’t put stock in it to judge a player. That’s not the right place to put any energy, considering these kids are advised on what to do and not to do by people who have a strong understanding of their draft day fate.

I know the combine means nothing to the coaches.  It does show their competitiveness and Young look scared.

No chance.

First and foremost it's a level playing field to test the athleticism of players. Your Pro Day numbers are always taken with a grain of salt.

Secondly it's an opportunity to meet players - formally and informally.

Finally it's a chance for NFL teams (and coaches) to come together and discuss deals, players etc.

Tell DeMaurice Smith that… this is the NFLPA’s top priority. Not field conditions and types but the fuging combine is what is important to him.

Players aren't required to show up for it, if top guys bail out small school athletic freaks will gladly take the opportunity to showcase their skills on national TV. Plus these are college guys that aren't signed to NFL teams yet so what leverage does the NFLPA have?

I'd honestly rather end up with a bust than a Kirk Cousins type. You gotta have an MVP caliber QB to compete for SBs with any regularity.

I’ll take an Eli/Rivers type though.  That tier QB.   I don’t need Rodgers/Peyton.

Borderline is fine with me.  That was Cam too.

Combine isn’t nationally televised, it’s behind paid programming.

these players showcase during their football season at their respective programs. Smith wants to abolish the NFL combine bc he feels it is an intrusive and inappropriate hiring practice for NFL teams to conduct.  In the article I shared with you he makes good points. Especially how they have to see 32 diffferent team doctors in a single day, pretty insane.

we are no longer in an era where these players are inaccessible due to lack of technology. We know everything about these kids because of what tech enables today, the combine’s original purpose has aged. Before it was a way for a player to showcase their skills bc no one had heard of them due to them not getting their name in the papers or picked up on main stream television.

Feel how you want and defend all you can, but based on how passionate he is about this and the buy-in he has from the NFLPA… combine will be changing and that’s inevitable.

I hear ya. Fittz even said that they aren't putting much stock into the Combine or Pro Days. Film and in person interviews are almost enough. Bringing the kid into the facilities and put him through the rigors is probably better eval anyway.

In the grand scheme of things, draft wise, the Combine is just not as important as it once was.

The Combine is just a glorified meeting hole. Gets everyone under one roof. Easy peasy for the wheelin an a dealin set.

I think ultimately Stroud will be the pick, but Richardson would be the brass balls sitting on your desk, push all your chips into the middle of the table and have trust in your convictions / expensively assembled coaching staff move.

The whole brass balls, all-in thing just reminds me of the decision to hire Matt Rhule.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
