Eating to maintain or gain weight is a job for some. To the point their jaws hurt.
As soon as they don’t have to do all of that, they don’t. And also, a lot of those guys don’t want the body that got them in the league after they’ve retired.

As far as how well as much a people and media would like to make it as complicated as possible with fads and what it’s simply eating a deficit in calories for a long period of time and then maintenance. You’re not changing a diet, you’re changing a lifestyle and not excluding anything - but rather understanding your body, nutrition, and most importantly, moderation.

I'm into nutrition and fitness. The key is to stop eating processed junk food. As for gaining or losing weight, its about nutrition as well as the balance of movement and intake. The reason diets "fail" is that people go back to their previous eating and movement habits. So their "set point" is really a mix of behavior and physiology, rather than solely one or the other. It's like a graph of supply and demand, but movement and intake. If you reduce your movement and increase your intake/change your nutrition after the diet is over, you will return to the balance of the two; equilibrium. 

To me, moderation should include no processed foods for a normal person. Outside of the grocery store. People say counting calories shouldn't be necessary but you don't stop at every gas station you pass to fill up your car, do you? Think about how many garbage food places you see on a day to day basis. 

Eat well, be well.

It’s a farce. Intermittent fasting is not good for your long term health. Coincidentally, my source at BoA works in this exact department for the panthers. They have tons of great material on this stuff… the biggest thing they scream to avoid…… intermittent fasting

When gross was on Ryan Kalil’s podcast they went in depth on what they ate, and how often they ate it.

 

the nfl diet is pretty insane for the bigger positions.

Not just the line, Luke dropped a lot of weight when he retired. Of course, it sure stands out when the guy has always been around 300 lbs.

I've lost a tremendous amount of weight using intermittent fasting as a tool, not a diet. I also reversed my T2 in under 30 days and fixed my NAFLD in under 6 months. I do IF every day, but my focus isn't on weight loss. I just learned to eat when my body says it actually needs food, not according to some arbitrary trigger like it's time for lunch or dinner. Our bodies are built to be able to go extended periods without eating. We did it long before the advent of farming when hunting and foraging were the only ways to find food.

Unfortunately, IF has been turned into a fad diet, which it isn't. It's not a diet at all. You can still gain weight and be ridiculously unhealthy and fast every day. Knowing how to eat, what to eat, and when you actually need to eat are more important than following the latest diet craze.

this hits the nail on the head. The goal of it is to train your brain on when to eat and how often. People think that its about starving yourself or loading up on heavy creams/fats right when the clock strikes noon. People who dont understand that IF is not a diet are the ones who are creating unhealthy habits. 

Once you understand how much to eat and how often.. you dont need the IF model. It didnt lose you the weight, it helped you understand the cadence of your eating proces. 

You can eat 5 meals a day, and still lose weight fast than someone who thinks IF is the reason. All of these fad diets out there and programs... they act like a subscribed program is right for your body, when everyone's body is different. The one thing that holds true across every human is managing your caloric intake and the frequency of it.

    • I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that.   Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them.    I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it.    And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too.  Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches.    I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner. 
    • How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out? That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
    • I agree, teams in the past have fired the HC in order to retain a coach on staff...hell it happened to Mcderp this year, rams in the past and Im missing another.  The fall off for the Panthers team defense was huge once Mcderp leftd and Ron could not fix it even when he named himself DC.
