We don't trade up to #1 if we were holding out any hope on Matt Corral.

Yeah the whole offense and some of the roster are going to be centered around our top pick. Corral may not make the team because Dalton is pretty much a lock for the backup job.

Imagine thinking a 5’10 QBs can’t make it in the nfl when you have Kyler Murray and Russ. Drew Brees was a HOF. No one complained about height when PJ Walker was playing for us last year.

the nfl has had plenty of short QBs make it and even at times when the QB wasn’t even protected like today. You really think an inch or two is going to make that big of a difference?

here’s a list of some short QBs. You had 5’7 qbs play in the NFL and play well at a time when you could do whatever you wanted to a qb https://www.stadiumtalk.com/s/shortest-nfl-quarterbacks-8520e8f1a56a4a79

Imagine not being able to understand that some people have concerns about his size?

And you are right, nobody complained about the height of our 3rd string QB last year.

I hope Young tears is up next year, but I also thinks it is ok to have some concerns about his height and weight.

It is useless telling them that because the Young crowd will continuously and relentlessly do it trying to prove them wrong..

Yes, it can't be 55% one way 45% the other, it has to be all in or all out. It is a tough decision, and to really think it through means considering the possibilities from both perspectives. And it surely should not be personal--nobody knows how good Young will be, or Stroud.

And if you are worried about contact, who gets hit more often than a WR or a RB with violent collisions?  Wes Welker had a great career and he was 5'9" 185.  Darren Sproles, a RB, was 5' 6" and 190.  DeShaun Jackson was 5' 10", 175.

These players were hit repeatedly by NFL players going full speed--Safeties, Linebackers, defensive linemen--and they had long careers.

I get the risk, I really do--but if you build an OL and teach the QB to get the ball out quickly on most occasions--and you teach him to slide and get out of bounds--you can minimize hits to the QB. And that should be the rule for all QBs--because they all get hit.  Think about it--if Cam Newton were in this draft, you would want him because you fear injury to Young.  Cam played about 8 years at a high level.

Another thing about injury--when I hurt my shoulder in college and had to have surgery, the surgeon explained that my rotator cuff was not at the same angle as some other players, making me susceptible to injury.  In other words, I had no natural support for the shoulder when facing direct contact.  It was genetic, and my father had the same problem at South Carolina.  Some of this is genetics.

It’s crazy that Young is now being pushed as by far the only QB worth a top 10 pick. Really shows how much of a poo show the media is with the guessing game. Just like last year these mfers tried to sell us that Willis would be a top 5-10 pick gtfoh. If Houston really bypasses a QB at 2, we all need to apologize to Mel Kiper Jr he ain’t the only useless talking head that is a “draft expert”.

It is fun for the offseason, but I would not take stock tips from these guys.  They have nothing else to do, they have inside info, and they are still a bunch of idiots.  Of course, there are people on the Huddle who definitively know everything, so we should just listen to them.

I am still torn, I get the risk, but Young is the best QB.  You can't NOT pick him because he might get hurt.  They all might get hurt and they all might suck.

Correct I think if we looked at this scenario in a reasonable hypothetical way all of us would be ok with BY. How I came to prefer him over the others was by addition by subtraction. If we looked at each QB and their numbers with the players surrounding them then pivoted and took each QB and placed them on one another’s team and really put into consideration would the numbers falter or get elevated. The only QB I feel had a more than favorable supporting cast was Stroud. He has a plethora of 1st round talent coming from his team on offense. This draft alone will feature the likes of JSN, Paris Johnson Jr, and even Dawand Jones is a bored line 1st round talent. Next year should have even more. Last year was the same story and honestly I feel is a handicap in fully evaluating him. Yes, Stroud looks good and can do great things in. A clean pocket with talent around him but can he make the most of what he has. BY has had to create and be successful with some of the least talented Bama teams to date. This is why they haven’t won the NC not because of UGA and other teams being that much better. Much worse Bama QB’s have been successful but with a hell of a lot better supporting casts. Can we name 1 player on this Bama offense that will be a sure fire 1st round prospect? Hell there’s a slight chance Gibbs might not even get picked in the 2nd because of “size concerns”. All I’m saying is once I realized not all stats can be singularly graded I was ready to look past the hype of Richardson look at Levis a little different and maybe see the Josh Allen comparisons and feel he may be decent after some time in the NFL and just say Stroud is a good QB but he’s been comfortable too long and he is more of a risk than BY even considering his stature.

Bama had 2 players on offense go in the top half of the first round last year

Yeah it the concerns are unfounded, people have posted the data. It’s ignorance.

People can be concerned about the size and still excited about the pick.  He might be the smallest at the position next year and there just any much data on that frame and longevity at the QB position.  It isn't
"ignorance" as every scouting profile lists his size as a weakness.  He is just elite at other things that allows teams to look past it.

There really isn't any data he is by himself in these comparisons. Only two QB's below 6 foot have become MVP in the past 50 years. It's okay to acknowledge this is a variable to consider given our level of investment. It's due diligence. To call it ignorance reveals you are likely an Alabama fan.
