Such an asinine statement

If anyone thought they would become what they turned out to be, both would be drafted WAY higher than they did.  Trying to make an argument on players that already have had HOF careers as to why taking a small QB makes sense, is just so illogical that I am having trouble making sense of what your point with it even is.

It would be like trying to say people screwed up by not taking Brady because of what he turned out to be.  Dude fell to the 6th round, clearly nobody thought he'd be a legit starting QB, let alone the GOAT.

I've said time and time again, I do not think Young has a great future because I don't think he can stay healthy, so that's why I wouldn't take him.

so again, the pre-draft rankings are irrelevant. glad we agree on that.

OP is right and the posters trying to dissuade other's from believing that there are a lot of ignorance surrounding drafting Young are purely gaslighting. Who cares who we draft tbh as long as they are going to attempt to make the team better. Some people just have to tell everyone indirectly their poo doesn't stink and their opinion is god's gift to man.

The pic is changing after the draft. I used it because of the nonsense floating about him and the Vegas books giving people the notion he may be the pick. I'm all in Bryce hence the username BYOB (Bryce Young or Bust), but it's cool call me a clown if you choose you. I see how much you have looked foolish on this forum for a while now and wont allow myself to get worked up by a person like you.

Is this an alt assumptive attack? Those are always fun. I saw them get lured into getting themselves banned, pretty funny stuff. I unfortunately am not that fun. Thanks for trying though!

Personally, I think that moving up in this draft was a huge mistake.  I would have rather just tanked.  I don't have any thing personally against Young, but he is like my 3rd qb in the  draft.  I think we would have been better off just taking AR and keeping Moore, but that's just my honest opinion.

Even if Bryce is announced as the pick, it means nothing and proves no one right.  If he can flash and stay healthy that's when all the Young fans will know to eat their crow or not.  Because if Young can't stay healthy, we will be a losing team for easily another 5 years.

I will hope for the best, but I just don't see it.  I called Luke and Cam before we ever even made those picks and believed 1000% when I called those that they would be the transcendent, generational talents that they were.  I also called busts like Butler, KB, etc.  I just don't see it in Young.  I don't believe in the pick.  There are a lot of positives about his game, but there also, imo, an equal amount of holes in it, and the height is something that will have to be schemed around and the fact that the stats lay out that he struggles to make one of the most important throws in pro football with any consistency, and I just think there is huge bust potential.

But, we'll see...  *shrugs*

See, this to me is pretty typical.

Other than one or two extremes, I haven't seen many I'd call "Bryce haters". If anything, there are "Bryce doubters".

Or like me, "Bryce pleasedon'tlethimgethurt-ers" 😕

Yep, that's me at about 8:15 on Thursday night, I haven't been shy about me not liking him as the pick, but I've always said it's not about hating the player, it's that I'm just convinced he can't stay healthy in this league long term at his size.

I've had no issue voicing that opinion, but once the selection is made, no more negativity allowed and it's just rooting for him and praying he doesn't get hurt.  Which will be a staple of his career for us fans though, it's going to take a few years of him avoiding injury to not get scared every time he gets hit, and even then, it may never go away.

It’s the NFL can you guarantee any players long term health? No. Does he have a significant injury history coming out? No. Does his height hinder his play?  No. Sure you can worry I’d worry about any QB we Take because we’ve gambled so much

    • I was watching a YouTube and it was said that scout and GM insider types were saying the NIL had killed rounds 4-7. I don’t know that I buy it, seems like it might for a year or maybe two but then those guys have to move on.  NCAA is apparently about to give 5 years of eligibility. It is gonna skew those entrants older maybe.
    • Miller being less raw and more pro ready makes sense of why they picked him. With us having a capable starter in Walker the lower floor higher ceiling player makes sense for us as well. I agree with that.
    • I'm from Michigan and have had this discussion with my Lions friends, and they all agree with me, they were never going to take Freeling over Miller.  As, yes, you are correct, they could have left Sewell at RT and taken Freeling, but they are in a SB contention window right now. An OL with Freeling at LT and Sewell at RT is not as strong as Sewell at LT and Miller at RT would be for this upcoming season and likely at least next year as well. 5 years it could be looked back upon as a long term "mistake" to take Miller over Freeling, but for a franchise like the Lions, you can't worry about the long term when you have current SB aspirations.  It's all about maximizing their current SB window over the next 1-3 years. And it's not about style, it's about day 1 readiness, and a lot of "experts" aren't even sure if Freeling is ready to play Week 1 yet at the position he's used to, let alone switching to a side he hasn't played before, but a career starting RT is going to be more than ready to fill that role for them Week 1. I'm 100% convinced that if our draft positioning was swapped, we'd have still taken Freeling, they'd have still taken Miller, and both teams would have got the OT that they preferred due to what each team needs right now and what their current realistic aspirations are for the 2026 season. We're in a position where we can let our drafted OT sit and learn for a bit, they needed a week 1 starter, for me that's where this discussion becomes very easy to understand why each team took the player they did.
