How bad was Hurney after the first round in 2011?

Marty was so bad as a GM that I don't believe he was ever asked to interview with another team for a GM job or any other front office position.

We can only imagine how different things would have been if Richardson had brought in a GM with a different perspective and a better eye for talent after he let Gettleman go prior to the 2017 season. Perhaps the O-line would have been fixed; keeping Cam from ever getting hurt. We were 6-2 I think before the bottom fell out in 2018. Perhaps Rivera never loses his job. Or, if he did get fired we could have hired a coach more adept with dealing with the offensive side of the ball in the modern NFL., Rhule almost cetainly would have never been hired, and our draft classes would likely have been much better after our 1st round selection

Instead, Richardson went back with Hurney as an "interim GM" and decided to keep him on until he sold the team to Tepper...which has resulted in 5 strait losing seasons. 😕

Oh wow he didn’t fug up and take Blaine gabbert what a bro

From what I've read, the guy who pushed the hardest for Newton behind the scenes was Khary Darlington.

Then he got called a racial slur by Richardson, settled for a guy huge NDA and disappeared

Ok,,  if we got Cam Newton, our franchise QB, that took us to the Super Bowl, was an MVP etc..  Wasn't that an  A+ draft.

Franchise QB are not easy to come by.

So if Bryce Young becomes a   "franchise QB" ,  I'll be very happy.

Sure I want Mingo and others to become part of a bigger plan,,  but getting a franchise QB is a home run to me.

And if ALL  those talking heads who said  BRYCE YOUNG IS THE BEST, A FURTURE FRANCHISE QB.. they too should be saying we knocked the draft out of the park.

    • No, he has a long way to go to be that--I think he is probably referring to his ceiling--I think Legette has more room to grow from where he is that those more polished WRs.  When you look at his potential, it presents an argument that is not so one sided.  Of those three, only Odunze had a higher RAS score 9.92.  XL had a 9.90.  Malik Nabors had a 9.67.  Harrison Jr.  did not have one.  I am not sure that Legette has not overcome more obstacles to be where he is, and if you consider his adversity, his story might be more incredible, even though he is only a second tier rookie right nowm with Mitchell, Thomas, Pearsall, and maybe McConkey.  I am going from memory-but you have to think of things as a kid-when he was 16, his mother died of breast cancer.  When he entered S Carolina, his father died.  They had some issues and QB problems and the OL was terrible in Columbia---the others you mentioned?  None of that family drama, and they played at Washington, Ohio State, and LSU.  Huge difference.  I am proud of him as a man--when all his chips were on the table--when he had no more chances, he broke through and became a first round draft pick.  A school with a losing record, mediocre QB, and bad OL.  Mentally, he was struggling through the losses of both parents.  Amazing story.  Is he as good as those three who played at top universities?  Not yet.
    • Nice contribution.  Appreciate it. I have seen him on interviews, and I just like the kid.  He breaks so many molds and stereotypes, I doubt trying to put a label on his is going to work.  I think he can be special.  During his presser he was talking about riding horses and doing wildlife stuff.  This came to mind:  Lil Nas XL
