Yes, I'm very aware of Cap Friendly and, if you've red any of my posts, you'd recognize this is one of my main resources.

And, you're missing my point entirely. I'm also very aware of Kochetkov's contract status as well as the fact he will be the backup for the foreseeable future. That's not a point of contention with me, I get it.

The thread and discussion is about which of the 2, Freddie or Raanta, would/should/will keep and what's your basis for that decision?

Andersen's AAV is $4.5M before UFA; Raanta's is $2M (the same as Kochetkov right now).

Could Raanta be a Hurricane for about what Freddie was getting the last 2 seasons? If not, a decent UFA or trade acquisition starting goalie will cost in the neighborhood of $6-7.5M.

Give them each a half a million raise for two years. I’d say more for one year but we got too much to contract next year.

yeah see if we're paying those 3 guys 9.5 say goodbye to at the very least Pesce and to whatever forward on the open market you thought you might have wanted.  I'll take an open market goalie/ trade plus Pyotr's 2m.

Mrazek is barely an NHL goalie right now and succeeded in front of our defense. Nedjelkovic the same.  Pyotr will be fine at a 12-7-5 clip at worst next season for 2 mil behind a stud goalie without the injury troubles these two dudes have. We have been good at moving on/not providing guys the raises that they fetch on the open market for fitting in Brindamour's system.  I wouldn't quit that now.

That's why my answer on this poll is neither as I stated prior.  I want a bonafide #1 who can steal the show less Fred's injury history. Raanta at this point is an older, more oft injured version of Pyotr who has earned himself a raise on the open market. I hope it's not us that obliges him that.

Vegas won by committee, of like 6 goalies.

Goalie play didn't cost us any playoff series. Lack of scoring did.

But we also have never seen an elite goalie in Carolina. Wouldn't that be interesting to see in our system? Could solve a few of the goal scoring problems by itself.

Sure, that would be nice to see. That being said, is that elite goalie going to score for us? Because the 1 to 2 goals we have scored in losses won't get it done most times...

Again, what I love a top-notch goalie? Absolutely.

That being said, I care way more about getting forwards who can put the puck in the net

Look what NJD is doing. They are not settling and aggressively improving their roster. Tired of the Canes hoarding draft picks and prospects.

I actually am not. We are setting ourselves up to be contenders for a long time.

Continuing to have an excellent farm system is going to keep us an elite team.

    • One thing about it, he's not thinking about retiring. I found it odd that some Huddlers were taking rumors and running with them, imagining a slow down and "up-playing" injuries. Moton feels great and is still in his prime according to him, and his game is still indicative of his thoughts.  Sure, it may ultimately come down to economics, but I am sure that everyone involved is motivated to keep him in Charlotte.
    • I think the knee stuff with Moton has been blown way out of proportion. The exact quote was “It’s chronic stuff. Most linemen deal with it. But it’s just figuring out what we can do to make sure it’s limited and I’m still able to explode off it, which right now I can and I feel like I can in the future,” After a while, you start learning more about it and what can we do to make sure it’s as little of an issue as possible. I feel like I’m moving like I was when I was younger.” I don't view that as a guy who's saying his knees are on their last leg I see that as a 10-year NFL olineman saying that obviously after 10 years of playing a really physical sport, he's never truly gonna be 100% healthy again and he's gonna need to spend more time with the training staff to ensure his body can continue to perform at a high level. I think Moton has another 3 to 5 years left if he wants to continue playing.
    • So much crying. Tiresome. All of you should have had enough time to come to terms with the team picking up his 5th year...
