Jets sense Rodgers' frustration after spotty drill

Aaron Rodgers, facing a different team for the first time as the New York Jets' quarterback, got a little sampling of what playing the position was like for his predecessors. Rodgers, who was pressured by the Carolina Panthers' pass rush in a joint practice Wednesday, ended a spotty day for the Jets' offense with an ugly three-and-out in a two-minute drill. "I sensed frustration from everybody -- everybody on the O-line, Aaron, the coaches," center Connor McGovern said. "You can't go three-and-out in a two-minute drive like that. ... I think there was disappointment from the whole team."

Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young met his childhood role model before the Panthers-Jets joint practice and was given the following advice from Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers: "Be gentle with yourself. It's a long journey.'' Then, interestingly enough, it was Rodgers who got a little frustrated during the first of two joint practices, and Young who left feeling pretty good about his performance. Young should be pleased with his effort in a final two-minute drive in which he was 5-for-8 en route to a field goal. He didn't get a touchdown, but he moved the offense in position to score against a tough Jets defense. Rodgers wasn't as successful against Carolina's defense. Overall, Young was 14-of-22 in team drills with an interception early on a ball that was thrown a bit late. But the top pick handled facing his first opposing NFL defense well. Jets coach Robert Saleh called Young an "unbelievable point guard,'' which made Carolina coach Frank Reich smile. Reich said he wants his quarterback to be like NBA star guard Stephen Curry in terms of "pushing the ball up the court, put the pressure on the defense, make them declare what they're doing and immediately get the ball to the right guy.'' -- David Newton

This is great for us. The defense gets to operate against a great passer who is playing at a high level. Our secondary is really tested and our d line got to beat up on other folks.

It was invaluable for the O line who got to work against a top one gap penetrating defensive scheme after going against our gap and a half scheme every day. Dalton showed he still has it and Yoing got to work against pressure calling protections and adjustments. With all the film being shot the meetings on Friday and next week should be great. Forget who supposedly win or lost and concentrate on how this really helps see what needs to be cleaned up.

Will be at the stadium on Saturday to negate the Jets fans.

600 a night for the goddamn Circus Circus?!? Oh hellllll no. You’d be better off staying in Utah and driving down for the game.

      No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.

      It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
