Ron is a good guy with bad timing on ownership changes. That’s probably 75% of the reason he’s on the hot seat like that.

I'd say being 22-27 as HC in Washington has a lot to do with it.

He's 98-90 overall as a HC. Prime Cam and Luke were the sources of most of his success. In the games he's coached without those guys his record is basically hideous.

Or he kinda sucks as a head coach

I can't say that he sucks, but I can say that he's been his own limitation for a long while. Hiring Bienemy was something that I'd have never expected out of Ron.

Can't help but wonder if he's looking at this season as potentially his last one if things don't go well. Surviving cancer, making it to the ranks of head coach, and making it to the Super Bowl is a successful career by any stretch (let alone earning x2 COTY awards). He belonged in the NFL as a head coach and I'm happy to have seen him achieve it. At this point, the only folks that hold any type of ill will towards him from what I seen are people that were fans of specific players on the roster rather than the team itself.

It'll be interesting to say the least. That Washington roster is a lot stronger than folks might realize.

Ron seems like a legitimately good person. Anyone holding any ill will against him as a person is being ridiculous. But as a head coach? Let's be honest, there's plenty to critique. Dismissing that by questioning the fandom of others is just being dishonest.

Yeah I’ve seen no one wishing ill will towards Ron. He can stabilize a franchise and get them mid-tier with periodic playoff appearances. That appears to be his ceiling. A lot fans just want/expect more from the HC of their favorite team which is definitely reasonable. Ron is a great DC and as you already mentioned a great person.

Ron had an MVP QB and a DPOY on the other side of the ball and couldn't manage back to back winning seasons. IMO, Ron was basically an average coach with some generational talents on his roster. His track record without those generational talents is pretty bad.

Raiders can't afford to fire McDaniels. I mean that literally. His contract is too much, from my understanding the Raiders financially can't fire him until the 24-25 season.

also, Shanahan should be much higher on that list than he is. Saleh too.

lastly, based on some of the Huddle ... Reich should be at the top of the list for not winning a game this preseason.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
