Bosa’s shouldn’t be factor.  And now that we have seen it….that just doubles that point.

Just because a team does something stupid doesn’t mean the rest of the league follows suit, with players that aren’t comps.

Paying Burns 120+ million guaranteed? Debating that isn’t a debate.  Fire Fitt today if he is that dumb.

What? It's absolutely a factor. The heck do you think he did all of this for?

luvu, brown, chinn are all on deck now

If Jammie Robinson pans out I wouldn't be shocked to see us move on from Chinn unless he's willing to take 7 mil or so a year which is what CJG just got. Going to also have to put aside $5-6 mil or so for whoever we replace Henderson for as our #3 corner. Still about another year left before we can move on from Donte's contract.

$26M is 76% of what Bosa got.  His production not at that level for the past 2 years (see my chart above.)

That's not how contracts are done though.  Burrows is about to well be the highest paid player in the NFL by quite a bit. Parsons is going to crush this Bosa deal next year with an aav of 36-38m.

Not good for us.

Well that depends on what side of the fence you currently sit on in regards to all this.

If you're on the side of "Burns isn't worth the elite pass rusher money" then no, this isn't good for us.

But if you're like me and on the side of, "we turned down 2 firsts, we have to get it done and not worry about the money since in a few years it will be a bargain contract when the next batches of pass rushers get their deal" then this is OUTSTANDING news.

It now gives the team the ability to give him his 28-30 a year that he wants, which while it's more than the team wants to pay, it keeps him solidly below the top number, which will then continue to get topped over the next few years.

So we give Burns his 28-30 a year now, we'll feel much better about that when Parsons gets 36-38 next offseason.

Micah Parsons is going to get more $ than Nick Bosa even though according to that chart his stats aren't at the same level. It's not an analytical discussion, it's production vs. precedent. Both come into play.

Thats what you can do when you have a 7th round QB on his rookie contract.

They won't in the end

CMC for example will get restructured as he has a $14 million cap hit and an $11.8 million salary.  They'll end up re-structuring that to be like a $10 million roster bonus and a $1.8 million salary so they can spread that 10 million into future seasons.

Do that with 3-4 of the guys on that list and they cleared up a solid 20-30 million from that alone for next year.

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
