No offense but to say the cap is a myth is lunacy, ask the Rams. Don't get me wrong, I'd take that Super Bowl as well but now they are reaping what they sowed.

Again the myth is that the cap really limits you when it is actually judging talent poorly and guaranteeing too much money so you end up with a ton of dead cap money dumping or trading players, injuries or guys that retire prematurely.  Why do some teams stay in cap hell while others dont??

Not saying there isn't a limit just saying that the cap isn't the big issue you and others make it out to be. Again we all agree there is a salary cap, you don't need to say it over and over when everyone agrees there is a number that goes up most every year. The myth is that is can't be easily manipulated to the point that it doesn't stop you from getting the players you want or kills your roster if you pay someone a premium like Burns which is what the whole conversation is about. Or that you can't spend more cash in a year than the cap allows  So once again there is a cap but it is is not the impediment you and others suggest.  And given it can be manipulated so easily, it really isn't a problem for creative cap managers

I would hardly use Gettleman as an example of what to do. He was largely a disaster with his fruit basket turnover every year.

But it does stop teams from getting who they want.  Hence the the reason all rosters are primarily made up of cheap guys.
Will the  prevent us from signing Burns if we want? No, but it will prevent us from signing a lot of players to contracts like that.

here again, it’s not as prohibitive as some make it out to be but to make statements that it doesn’t matter as all is just wrong.

Anyone else feel like if this deal isn’t done tomorrow, we are going to get murdered Sunday?  Feels like this is a massive distraction, and there’s zero energy among the players in the public portion of practice and during post practice interviews.

You mean when they are stretching and doing walkthroughs? What type of energy do you want to see?

They were going to lose the game regardless of Burns playing or not. So who cares. Sit back and relax and get ready for another losing season.

Unpopular but possibly not wrong thought:

Gross Matos might be a better option for defending Atlanta's run game.

Atlanta isn't the team to freak out about optimal pass rush.

Gross Matos is better against the run than Burns.   No possibly wrong about that.

    • Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15
    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
