Someone logically explain to me how pretending Bryce has an injury can be beneficial in any way to the coaches?

Fitt/Frank are 100% tied to the success of Bryce Young.

so yeah, not ruining him out the gate benefits them both.  And the current trajectory was really bad through 2 games.  Seattle was projecting to continue the bad trend.  We don’t have the offense presently to support a rookie QB.  It’s how you ruin a QB.   So they pumped the breaks.

It’s very easy to see why pumping the breaks is to everyone’s benefit….because everything hinges on him developing.

See this is where you lost me. There’s not any concrete evidence benching him will be meaningful in any way. Peyton Manning threw 28 picks his rookie year. Luck had a QBR of 54 his rookie season. I could go on and on and on with #1 picks that started immediately. None of them got benched. The absolute best thing for a rookie QB is game reps. Benching him takes away time on the field and at worst, you could show him up if Andy looks good. I’m sure that will be an exquisite confidence boost for Bryce.

You can ruin a QB early and derail his odds of success by putting them in a horrific spot.   All reps aren’t equally nor are situations.

Don’t disagree with your premise, but you’re essentially just saying don’t start him in Seattle because it’s loud. Because that defense sucks. It’s a bottom 5 defense by most metrics. This isn’t the legion of boom anymore. It honestly would’ve probably been a good game for Bryce to get right because their secondary is suspect in every way.

OR maybe he rolled his damn ankle and we don't need him to play through an injury that can get worse because we aren't making a playoff run this year.  Sometimes the simplest answer is the right now.

If they're thinking that way that vibe sure changed fast.

    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
