Bryce isn’t a lost case…at least not yet.

It’s so early to give up on him, but it’s not fun right now. He hasn’t shown he looks like the number one overall pick, let alone a number one overall pick a team at 9 traded the farm for to move to get him. Right now, he looks borderline capable. It doesn’t help his supporting cast is average and his line is a hot mess.

You're being nice he looks like the worst QB of the top 4.

Stroud is obviously above everyone hell it's debatable Stroud is already a top 10 QB. Then you have Levis who has looked better as well. Even AR looked good in his short amount of time.

Bryce has a long way to go.

Did any of you have time to watch the entire clip?

One of our members posted some all 22 footage last month. He was the first person to call attention to BY’s footwork. His drop back isn’t smooth. You can see it in the video. Also when he passes he doesn’t always step into his throws. Poor velocity leads to inaccuracy and turnovers. A guy like Cam was so strong in his prime that he could get away with that in games. Young can’t.

It doesn’t help matters to see the O-line allowing too much pressure up the middle & from the blindside. Sometime he doesn’t have time to set his feet.

This team needs to totally revamp the passing game. You can’t win in the NFL if your QB can’t make big plays downfield.

I’m a big AR fan and that’s who I wanted us to draft. When ar was playing, he had more tds than Bryce and even missed one game. Of course he’s out the rest of the season now, but he played he made plays.

I mean Jared Goff sucked with Jeff Fisher.  It was a bad situation.

Yeah sure ideally you draft Peyton Manning's at No. 1, but that isn't realistic.  But it isn't unprecedented for a No. 1 pick to need a different environment to succeed.

So Young needs a better coach. We are in agreement on that.

People are just noticing the way he drops back now?

He often drops back shoulders square to LOS on his toes to see the field. Did people think this was going to change in the NFL?

This has always been his footwork. It’s how he does it. It isn’t going to change. If he were to drop back the conventional way he wouldn’t see sh!t

I agree with your last statement. Better coaching can create a “different environment”.  Sean McVey was light years ahead of Jeff Fisher  offensive game planning and almost won a SB with Goff.

Bart Starr played his entire career in Green Bay. He payed under Vince Lombardi from 1959-1967. His 5 championships came between 1961-1967. In the 7 seasons he played w/out Lombardi ( 3 before he arrived and 4 after left the team )as his head coach he had 1 winning season: 5-4 in 1969.

Footnote: The Packers were 1-10-1 the year before Lombardi arrived (1958). I read some place that the only all-time Packer greats that Lombardi drafted were Herb Adderley (cb) and Dave Robinson (olb). All of the other great players who played on those dynastic teams from the 1960s were already there when he took over in 1959. Those guys went 7-5 in 1959. Lost the NFL title game in 1960…and then won 5 over the next 7 years. That dude just knew how to get the best out of people.   I’m not expecting any coach to do that in this era. But, Bryce needs someone who is really going to  coach him if he wants to succeed as a QB at the NFL level.

You're describing a 3rd round project QB, not the #1 overall pick.

How can a guy with bad footwork and bad mechanics be the most pro ready? It doesn’t make any sense.

For Bryce bad footwork and mechanics were "off platform throws" and being a "play maker". They were really just him scrambling around so he could see down the field and literally jumping in the air to get throws off. Worked against guys that wouldn't make practice squad in the league but when NFL DE's are at least as fast as Bryce his college game doesn't translate.

Once the people who drafted him are fired then he is just another replaceable player on a bad roster or they keep trying to build a SB team around him and keep failing.

Yeah this is true.  Good chance we have #1 overall in 2025 with a different HC and GM

That's why that under center play action interception came about. He physically can't roll out from under center and see anything. It's also why he takes 7-10 step drops out of already being in shotgun, so he's throwing 10-15 yards behind the line of scrimmage just to be able to scan the field

    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
    • Sanders is with Tom Brady brand and that's his mentor. The Raiders owner was with Sanders taking pics at a Vegas game together.   It doesn't take much to connect the dots that Vegas will be interested in Sanders as their franchise QB. Oh yeah and guess who hasa small ownership stake in the Raiders Tom Brady.   I guess this is just another made up Madden idea by me huh?
    • Bro I don't mind debating you, but did you really have to write all that to get your point across.   This isn't Madden. If you have the #1 pick you literally control your own destiny. If nobody wants to trade which I have a hard time believing they won't then you obviously take the best QB.   I think we will have suitors. If that's Madden then so be it.
