Do you watch CJ Stroud and wonder ‘what if’?

There is some middle ground here. The Houston offense in functioning way better than ours. They have speed at WR a solid TE and an OL that is blocking better that ours. Watching Houston’s offense vs ours is a huge difference. Their OC is doing a great job and Stroud is taking them to the next level. Both things can be true. Stroud is elevating them and they are a much more competent unit than ours.
We are trying to force our power running OL into a dancing bears, finesse zone blocking unit, playing a rookie WR who is probably a slot at this level on the outside because our only decent player on offense is a 32 year old WR who had to move to slot because he lost a step. Seriously who on our offense would you absolutely want to retain for our future?

Stroud would suck on this panthers team.  The OL is horrendous, the WR suck and can’t get separation and the scheme is awful and not suited for the personnel

You must not have read what I said in my post.

That argument is completely invalid and doesn't matter here on this topic. Stroud is lightyears ahead of Bryce. One is a top 5 QB, the other is being discussed as possible bust.

Look at the balls CJ throws, the velocity, the accuracy, and show me any of that from Bryce... ever.

I was going to support whoever we took and I still am but it's rough watching him break records and legitimately be in the MVP conversation right now.

There's still no way in hell he's playing as well for us as he is for the Texans. Their receivers and offensive scheme are infinitely better than our own. I have no idea how much better he'd be at throwing 7 yard hitches to guys with zero separation as the line crumbles around him before he finishes his drop back.

This situation was a no winner for any QB we brought in. I doubt MVP winner Patrick Mahomes from last season would look good in this putrid offense, We are just that bad.

his best wr was a 7th round pick from 2017, I am pretty goddamn sure stroud can elevate just about any team at this point

we can be open minded about young but to start the race off this far behind and this fuging wrong makes everything much much harder

stroud is literally one of the best qbs in the nfl right now while young is literally one of the worsts.  And houston was an absolute catastrophe as a team last year

Yeah with Lovie Smith they struggled. They clearly have some talent and Ryans is looking to be a legit HC which several people on here saw coming just not this quickly.

I'm not ready to grade Bryce yet. That being said I was a Stroud guy from that Rose Bowl game when he was a sophomore and JSN went off, you could just tell he had it. My biggest issue with Bryce moving forward is that while this offense is TERRIBLE and impossible to grade a rookie in, Bryce's path to success in the NFL is narrower than imagined.

I am praying he succeeds because all these hypotheticals will only drive you crazy at this point.

We can admit we missed on Stroud but still be open minded about Young. Stroud is taking the league by storm and we are a complete mess. Hopefully we can get a competent offense going so we can give Young a fair chance before moving on from him. We are officially at the bottom now with the Cards winning so no where to go but up… Well after the Cowboys game which could be very ugly.

I would agree with this, but nothing will improve until the entire FO is cleaned out.

I have been and will remain really patient with Young. But even I admit that I watch game after game and see top tier QBs make a throw and think to myself, I'm not sure Bryce would, or even could make that throw. It's probably a bias but I admit it's frustrating.

I was surprised to hear we were inquiring about Young, Sweat, Higgins, and Adams before the trade deadline. I thought Fitt would be cut off by now.

I am right there with you.

That being said, it's amazing how nobody wanted to work with us (take us to the woodshed) when we have no more assets anyone wants or, for the first time, unwilling to pay more by treating draft picks like candy.

  • Nico Collins is their #1, a third year 3rd rounder out of Michigan. He has over 600 yards receiving on the year and better than anyone we have (and who I personally had on my radar as a breakout candidate - I have had him stashed on my keeper league roster for 3 years in FF now).
  • Their #2 WR is the Rookie Tank Dell who is playing fantastic for a 5th rounder and looks better (and faster) Than any Receiver we currently have.
  • They also have Dalton Schultz at TE, a top 10 player at his position who I REALLY wanted us to target this offseason instead of Hayden Hurst.
  • Noah Brown, The former 7th rounder you're talking about has played in 4 games this year.
  • I don't know how good Bryce would look with the above mentioned guys but i'm pretty sure he'd look at least marginally better.

You have been completely disingenuous about the whole thing regarding Stroud ever since we drafted Young. I get it, you wanted him, but go learn more about the team before you jump ship to be a Texans fan.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
