Do you watch CJ Stroud and wonder ‘what if’?

Select Huddlers have convinced themselves that Tank Dell is Smitty 2.0 as a coping mechanism.

There is a definite sentiment he is not elevating the team around him and instead has a roster built for a Super Bowl run. He's doing exactly what he did at OSU. I said it before he reminds me A LOT of a young Cam minus the ridiculous rushing ability. But he's got some legs too. I do not know who in the Panthers looked at him and saw a dud. But they deserve to be ridiculed in the streets.

It's tough to admit that the QB we passed on is doing elite QB things and elevating his supporting cast. It's a bitter pill to swallow and it sucks but it beats being delusional.

Let’s be honest, we all mostly drank the koolaid. We wanted Steichen or Ben Johnson, and once it didn’t happen, talked ourselves into trusting this Reich All-Star staff narrative.

Do wonder what type of year it would be if we took a gamble on Kellen Moore. He didn’t have the experience but could’ve been better than what we’re getting.

I still think back and chuckle at all the footballs that got spiked when Stroud threw a pick on his first preseason drive. Oh, Stroud's a bust they screamed! LOLOLOLOL @ Houston! Our super processor would never make such an obvious blunder!

Those same football spikers reassured is all preseason how much better Bryce and the overall offense would look once the regular season came and we started actually game planning. Real football fans know the preseason doesn't matter they said. LOLOLOLOL! We don't want to show our cards.

Now those same people are desperately clinging to parroting the "it's too early to call Bryce a bust yet" line.

To be fair, I think he is a legit WR.  He led CFB (along w/Rashee Rice) in most metrics.

Although I see your angle—Doesn’t change the fact no one expected the Texans WR room to amount to much with a rookie QB, rookie OC, banged up OL and rookie HC. The narrative was that they had one of the worst offenses talent wise in the league.

I 100% admit to having Richardson and Stroud as my 1a and 1b but convincing myself to be okay with Bryce because if our experiences staff and all these analysts didn't see the physical traits deficiencies that I thought were just glaring then in must just be a me thing. I'm probably wrong. Well, fug.

A lot of the Bryce Young defenses make more sense when you realize this is how people thought he saw the field, and they cannot admit they were wrong

At a certain point there is a physical prerequisite baseline for being successful in the NFL.  You don't have to be the best athlete at the position, but we were led to believe that Bryce was good enough in that aspect.  Unfortunately, he just doesn't seem to meet that baseline requirement.  He isn't able to generate velocity on his passes without having enough time and room for a big wind up.  Other top prospects are able to effortlessly flick the ball with the same power.

Accuracy and knowing where to go with the ball are important.  But the NFL is really fast, and you have to be able to get the ball there quickly as well.

Yes the scheme is bad.  Yes the team is bad.  But it's hard to ignore the significant limitations of the guy we traded the future to draft #1 overall.

    • I want the conversations at season's end to be more about what else we need to build onto the foundation to be playoff contenders and less about the fultility of drafting yet another QB and hiring yet another coach because as long as Tepper is the owner, it doesn't matter what this team does.
    • yeah I was hoping  that we stayed put & drafted Levis at #9  i even said on here after we foolishly traded up for Bryce Young that I would not be surprised whatsoever if the Bears were picking #1 overall with our pick this year but what ...just saying
