It's whatever to me. We all called for Brown and the offense still sucked. It honestly probably got even worse.

How about we see that red headed dude at QB again? Let's find out of the offense suddenly looks a lot better again. That sure would be uncomfortable confrontation with reality.

You mean when we threw 60 times against a depleted secondary and still lost? Yea let’s do that again. Look even if Andy wins 3-4 games so the fug what. We still aren’t going to the playoffs, we still can’t block, and our coaches still suck. It’s about the future and Andy isn’t apart of that. Bryce is and that’s just something you’ll have to come to terms with. Willingly or unwillingly.

You really are sad. Bryce may be the future. I am willing to bet he won’t be starting for us in 2026.

I agree. At this point in the season it wouldn’t hurt. Bryce is getting worse.

I'd just like to know for sure. If Andy Dalton looks a lot better than Bryce Young again then it's not a fluke.

Yeah he knows his days are numbered.  It's a panic move.

Don't know if it's a panic move. Might be a little controlling though.

Playcalling isn't as simple as just picking a play to run. You have to know situational football, how to use plays to set things up, etc.

Brown might not have enough experience to understand those factors. I can see taking it away from him for reasons like that.

That said, part of the idea was to free Frank up to concentrate on other things. He now loses that benefit. And realistically, while it might have been better with Reich, it wasn't exactly great either.

I was really hoping he'd give it to Caldwell. He's not only got experience doing it but a record of success.

It was a good game by Dalton, but I mean his average YPA was meh (just like Young's).  We put up 27 points which is our highest but Young put up 24 and 21 his last two games before Brown took over play calling in half the amount of attempts.  I get that points are points but you are talking about a 3 point swing from Young's best game.  I'd rather keep letting the rookie get reps to see if he can get better or not.  A couple extra wins with Dalton doesn't do much for us.  Plus Dalton had some good games last year with NO and some stinkers.  It's kind of where he is at now in his career.

I mean, this season's not going anywhere. What's the point?

The only thing of any practical value that you're really going to get out of the rest of this year is player development, especially for Young.

I just don't see anything to be gained by sitting him.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
