Seems like a great guy. Helluva college QB.

But he's Chris Leak. HS prodigy with subpar measurables, good college QB, but everyone saw he didn't have NFL talent. I just don't know how they missed it with Bryce.

Too be so far off on the pick when football is your profession and career is just mind boggling ...

And it wasn't just our front office. Evidently a lot of NFL teams missed it. All the talking heads missed it. I just don't see how. I was laughed at repeatedly this off-season for having the gall to question Bryce's talent level.

Well... how about now?

I don't think it was Bryce, necessarily.

IMHO, last decade or so has had a lot of really subpar QBs taken in the first round that would be "Chris Leaked" if they were in the same time period he was eyeing an NFL career.

I thought it started with Wentz and Goff, but it was actually a few years before them.

Its really, really sad to read the list of QBs taken in the first round the last 10 years or so.

Wentz was elite before he got injured. Goff doesn't have typical #1 overall type talent but I think we thought we were basically getting a more athletic version of him in Bryce.

This is what people are ignoring because they would rather poo talk on Bryce

Well, to br real asbout it then offense has looked unlike any offdense we have really ever seen here, or in the NFL lately and by lately, say since 1958.

We had a building full of successful and respected offensive coaches.

Agreed?

In what world do people like Reich who played himself and has easily 30 years in, Caldwell who has intimate knowledge of Peyton Manning offenses, etc etc,  not understand the concept of throwing a deep ball?

There honestly is only one answer as to why they wouldn’t use it in their offense. There are multiple reasons they wouldn’t do it, but it is all subcategorized under personnel. And that is way more about who is throwing the ball than it is about slow Wrs and a porous OL. Because there are ways to get those WRs open and ways to buy time for a deep throw. But they still wouldn’t go there.

It is time to open eyes for some of y’all.

Do your own re-evaluation and see if you really still feel like you did in April through today.

We are all about stupid mistakes.

Tuttle jumping offsides.

Ian Thomas not rule blocking (he did not block anyone) on the punt/fumble/touchdown.

How many of you felt, "Oh crap!" when Sanders was marked out at the one?

We are fundamentally dysfunctional, mentally stupid, underwhelmingly talented, and strategically idiotic.  They expect fans to pay to see that.

The team was just constructed very poorly.

Tepper hired coaches, sans Brown, that didn't run the modern spread + stretch zone he wants.

And now Brown, as promising as he could be, doesn't seem in his element.

It's also just a bad squad so it's not like anything he can do that would have this offense take off.  We didn't acquire any guys that can stretch the field.  That is what is most baffling.  The job Fitt and Morgan did is particularly awful.  They really thought we had enough speed on this team.

And Bryce is just playing very bad football.

Ian freaking Thomas should never see the field again for this team.  He brings nothing that someone else cannot do better. Sit his ass and never let him back in again.

There are a few other useless idiots that need to be permanently benched.

I really don't think they practice deep balls. I really don't think they practice in game situations also, because the decision making is complete trash. Bad timing plays, bad route concepts, bad blocking assignments, no creativity, no play calling to setup defensive bus plays, no end-around, no come-backs. This scheme is trash, coaching trash, players trash, front office trash.

What do they practice

Yes. No doubt they have had some embarrassingly bad plays and games and season, all of it. But There have been plays that they did their jobs and the play was there to be made and it isn’t seen or isn’t executed. He will hold the ball often enough that you shouldn’t say he doesn’t.  More than he should.

The biggest impediment to the offense has been the stacking of the defense in tight and not respecting the deep ball. We have seen what that does to you, I believe maybe it was 2018? It was very obvious with Cam because of his track record of wrist flicking 40 ropes.

At the same time it is so much worse now because Cam’s bum arm could still hurt you intermediate/semi deep.

What I have said all along is Young needs too much arc to get his distance, like Russell Wilson in that way. And Wilson was a lucky SOB with WRs that would fight and get those ducks.

With Bryce Young we need those types of WRs more than speedy ones that will outrun his range in no time. I will say this again:

Fast WRs will outrun his range on deep balls. We need jump ball specialists. I’d get me some glorified TEs that will block, with great hands who will fight for the football. And win. You want to fix Bryce Young, that is your only chance.

I usually don’t try to imagine how he could succeed because every time I try, nope. But that might. What a plan lol.

My concern is that we are seeing the plays that we see because they are the only ones that Bryce can actually execute to any sort of proficiency. It’s really worrisome. Almost every successful completion seems to be within 10 yards of the LOS. You tell me how many NFL wr’s can consistently get open playing like this, when the defense knows it every time.

He’s got to be an OC’s worst nightmare. Short and small with a well below average arm, but he’s supposed to be really smart.

    • Yeah, when you draft a guy you have to understand and realize you're going to be giving him a contract commensurate with that draft position. It is what it is. If you don't want to do that for anyone on the board, trade down. Hell, pull a Vikings and sit on your ass and let the time run out and the next team up pick. LOL! But don't draft the guy and then think you're going to get away with some contract shenanigans. Hell, his agent can't allow it looking out for his own interests. If Stewart was willing to sign a deal wildly out of step with the norm on a bad way his agent would probably tell him he's got a walk. If I want to sign future 1st round draft prospects I can't be a part of this.
    • Yea, I don't know why they are insisting this new clause to be be included. (well its money, its always money). Just the issue, or one of the big issues, is no other team is doing it. They are trying to start a trend..... guess what the team picked right after and before stewart didn't not have this clause in the contract and they have already signed. They totally look like the bad guy in all this and like I posted before, their rep is awful among agents.  Mike Brown uses his daughter negotiate contracts cause she took law courses. Look it up, many say if she is doing that, she is the GM... I bet you can not guess who the GM is....... save you some time, there isn't one.... so maybe it is the daughter....
    • Eh, I can see where you're coming from, but at the same time, unless the new jerseys were just god awful ugly, how many people would just cancel their order at that point? Those people, like myself, bought it because they wanted T-Mac's jersey, not because they loved the current uniforms and just wanted one. But I kinda hope they do give us new uniforms next offseason, just like with Cam, so this version of T-Mac's jersey will always be his "rookie jersey" which would be pretty neat.  It was pretty well known at the time that we were getting new jersey's that next season so I waited to get my Cam until then and got an Authentic one, which is great, but I do still kinda regret not having a Cam rookie jersey in my collection.
