The best way to evaluate Young

We will NEVER be able to surround him with everything his style of play requires for him to even be serviceable, so at what point do we cut bait? By the time we are able to assemble the pro bowl line and receivers along with a ‘creative’ OC, he will have been out of the league for 3 years. When have we EVER had that kind of talent all at one time?

We needed a day one, come in, kick a** and take names alpha DUDE. Someone who will elevate everyone, and just make it work, regardless of the circumstances. This is what we were advertised.

Bryce May end up ok one day, but he will never survive long enough for that day to be with us.

But there is a way. Good video and really spot on and fair.

Oh, I agree that it is time to let Dalton start for the team. There's an awful lot that can be learned on the bench for a rookie QB. Part of that is the idea of earning their position and fighting to get it back.

Also, what Dalton does, more than anything, is allows us to better evaluate the rest of the team, something we desperately need to do. Maybe Bryce hasn't been very good in calling protections (he's not) and maybe he doesn't understand how to work and move within those protections. Maybe our receiving corps isn't really a receiving corpse.

Still, we can't look at Bryce right now and know what we will get. Love and Rodgers both looked pretty unremarkable in their first season as the Packers smartly kept them on the bench.

Of course, Bryce is looking historically bad out there, so sometimes it is the quacking duck thing.

We can look at Bryce and be very concerned, enough is out there for that. I like that video because it's comparing Bryce to Bryce and that part is the concerning part. He isn't learning or improving when you compare him to himself. And like others have said, there are backups playing now doing more in a couple of games than Bryce has all year, both production and growth. It's not even the historically bad stuff, that's just time filler to me now because there is no actual football worth talking about so back to Bryce or coaching or Tepper. He looks way more limited than any of those guys you mentioned. I went back and watch Manning's rookie year TDs and Ints and that looked nothing like Bryce's in game play. None of them are on the same level of physical talent as Bryce. Not sure about Love honestly, he was a project pick with plenty of physical talent if I remember correctly from that draft and situation, but that is about when I started to pay less attention to the NFL. The part about him not adjusting to pressure well even though it should be normal by now is incredibly concerning because that was Carr's issue also, way above his line's ability also.

Ether way he will be here next year and get another shot, well unless Tepper blows up and pulls a Teddy on him. If he comes out next year and with the same issues then it's time to start looking towards the next guy to bring in. There is a lot of film on him now and everything isn't known given the situation but what is known is very very concerning and I think that is fair.

I personally think Bryce is creating some of these issues, or magnifying them. I was at the Tampa game and it's worse in person, so much worse.

It would be good to see how Dalton would do rest of the year to evaluate the other players like you said.  Everyone always says the Oline is horrible and the WRs are not open but if Dalton suddenly was passing for 300 yards with alot less sacks it may be that Young is so bad currently that he makes the entire team look terrible or the entire team may actually be terrible.

Not sure Dalton could last the rest of the season. He took a lot of hits against Seattle. Same WR drops as always in that game. But he was much better at getting the ball to the right read and buying himself time. He would be an upgrade over Bryce, but what's the point? We can evaluate the rest of the team with Bryce in the game. Does Bryce give the Panthers the best chance to win? - not right now.

Why do you think so many don't want to see it?

Because it would prove the obvious and they couldn't hide behind 'it's so hard to evaluate Young this year'  anymore while having to internally confront going so hard for a massive bust way past the point of being reasonable.

If Young truly is a bust then he will bust out of the league its as simple as that. There is nothing to hide behind lol. He's going to get a second year to prove his worth regardless of what your opinion is of him or mine. I just choose to believe that with a coaching staff that has a better sense of direction, and a front office that isn't constantly shooting itself in the foot Young and the rest of the roster will be put in a better position to succeed versus the alternative which is what 99% of the huddle believes. And that's fine, had we retained Reich I'd probably be a little less optimistic but optimistic none the less.

Franchise is cooked, they’re too prideful to start Dalton over young even if it’s just to prevent giving the bears the number 1 overall pick

let that sink in

I'm not sure Dalton still has it in him to play out the string but I agree the goal should be to not give the Bears the 1st overall pick. I say start the Ginger.

You can belive in Santa Caluse and the Easter Bunny too. The tape is there and you can ignore it if you wish. I have already stated ad nauseam he is going to be here next year regardless of what I think about him.

Playing Dalton just adds more to the heap of obvious but it's also the best move for Bryce anyways. Nothing is getting better the rest of this season and the rest of the offensive roster could use a few games to prove what they can do without him because he is a large part of the problem on the field in the offense.

I don't think he can beat out a decent backup at this point and there really isn’t any untapped potential. Fix his feet and send him out to start earning that new QB in 25 is the plan by defualt.

    • Bryce as QB will make the line look bottom 10
    • Interesting, quite a few posters here parrot constantly that "Bryce didn't make a single NFL throw this past season", yet he sure did bullet a lot of passes in tight windows. If you watch that whole clip, its easy to see how bad the receivers were last year. And his intermediate throws don't look any worse than Stroud, he just has footwork problems to address
