The Final Drive

It was an exciting way to finish the game, great drive by the whole team. Chuba has really progressed this year. ISM is a very intriguing player, not sure why he wasn’t featured earlier in the year. Defense, led by Brown again was great.

Bryce had a good game. But floated a lot of balls, allowing the defense to close on the ball. I still don’t see him as a winning starer in the NFL unless he’s surrounded by superstars at every position. And btw, that doesn’t make me a hater, I just don’t see it. But I hope I’m wrong. Would be awesome if he was.

But today was a good day, great to see us win one.

What is really like to know is how many of the plays called were TB and how many did Bryce check into. This drive was similar to the one we beat the Texans on and thankfully both ended up as wins. I do however see a glaring issue in both games that we cannot afford to continually count on. Defense held up all 4 quarters. This will not and cannot continually be expected. The main things you build off any great drive like this or win is confidence. Like they said on the broadcast any time Bryce is given a chance to make decisions and not have a defender in his face in 2 seconds then he can try to make a play or attempt to throw a receiver open. Confidence is key to end the year whether we win or not. Then come the offseason and we build around a punishing rushing attack, play action and motion. Simple as that.

As a Bama grad, I’m a Bryce fan, and I hope he figures this thing out. I was pleased with that last drive. However, I still want to see more out of his passes. The ~20 yarder to Tremble to get off the goal line took forever to get to him, and the pass to Minot was just a wounded duck with a nice adjustment (granted, the rain may have caused the ball to come out funny).

I do hope Bryce and the team can build in this.

All his balls take forever to get to where he wants them. I just don’t see how is arm is going to be able to get to where it needs be at this level

Just like if a random person on the Huddle gives his hot take on a certain QB. Completely irrelevant.

And yet here you are, responding yet again.

You are pathetic.

What elicited such a response? Awfully touchy.

That’s my concern as well. You would have to throw with unheard of anticipation to overcome that issue.

My biggest concern too. It's amazing to me that this issue wasn't hammered home in scouting reports.

I know some folks here will say "I told you so" from before the draft (and originally I was a Stroud guy too). But Bryce was unquestionably going to be picked in the top 5, probably top 2. So everyone was wrong on this, no just the lucky Panthers.

    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
    • Sanders is with Tom Brady brand and that's his mentor. The Raiders owner was with Sanders taking pics at a Vegas game together.   It doesn't take much to connect the dots that Vegas will be interested in Sanders as their franchise QB. Oh yeah and guess who hasa small ownership stake in the Raiders Tom Brady.   I guess this is just another made up Madden idea by me huh?
    • Bro I don't mind debating you, but did you really have to write all that to get your point across.   This isn't Madden. If you have the #1 pick you literally control your own destiny. If nobody wants to trade which I have a hard time believing they won't then you obviously take the best QB.   I think we will have suitors. If that's Madden then so be it.
