Panthers interview requests

Bill wants to take the wins record from Shula. He needs 7-10 wins a season over the next 4 years to do that.

This team is not getting him there.

And which one is based on the openings? Probably only Atlanta, which really is a QB away from being scary.

Nightmare scenario is Fields comes available and Atlanta grabs him somehow. That offense could actually be scary with Bijan and London along with Fields and whoever they draft this year (probably offense again in WR-heavy draft). Plus, Pitts is way better than Kmet.

Seeing Monken trending for Panthers (means nothing, probably because he interviewed today). He’s got a very interesting background. He’s led a lot of different offenses in the NFL and college, and they all seem to produce big numbers. Feels like a strong sleeper candidate.

Entered into this discussion elsewhere, but I'll ask the same question here:

Anyone know why in the hell we're not trying to interview Mike Borgonzi?

We contacted the Chiefs about Brandt Tilis, but not their Assistant GM? 🤔

Well we interviewed him last cycle and didn't move forward with him.  May just not be a fit.

The backgrounds on our candidates list seem pretty consistent in what they're looking for.

He is also into power running which this oline currently fits

he is one of two that fits that mode

I love the Ravens….hit you in the mouth on both sides of the ball

…of course, young is no Lamar Jackson either …so there is that

Pretty sure we didn't. Borgonzi hasn't ever  interviewed here that I've seen.

There's a theme here though when you look at the people we want to interview over the people we're ignoring.

In Kansas City, Brandt Tilis over Mike Borgonzi...

In Baltimore, Nick Matteo over Joe Hortiz...

In Detroit, Mike Disner over Ray Agnew...

The cap management / analytics expert thing seems to be the common thread, and I'm not a fan of it.

Only thing I can figure is maybe David Tepper wants somebody who does things closer to his way as opposed to guys who are experts in something he has no clue about.

It's likely he was one of those that turned the request down. The Panthers were reaching out to candidates to see if they would reject their offer before they formally sent a request through the league.

Granted that's a possibility, but with that also be true in the other cases referenced?

    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
    • Good luck to Burns. He’s fine as a third pairing defensemen but Rod is too stubborn to do that.
