That's how you fix a 2-15 team... Pay big money for guys who contributed to the reason you went 2-15!

Everyone here is seriously wanting to pay $30 Million for a guy who admitted to the media he was playing not to get hurt.

It's not an issue of talent, the culture in this locker room sucks. The "Cornerstones" of this locker room need to be traded. The guy showing the most effort at the end of the season was retirement home Adam Thielen.

Spend that $30 million and go get guys who have real playoff experience who can help this locker room.

Edit:Is there any statistics that show people getting these max contracts (outside of QB) and it actually being worth what was paid? Every sport I've ever watched, 2-3 years in the team fanbases are always complaining about the contract.

Careful people out of arguments will accuse u of never having played sports as if it’s not a played out internet message board response by people out of arguments lol

100% agree. Nobody on this roster deserves to be vastly overpaid. would just be another mistake in the long list made by the panthers since tepper got here

Even if you decide to pay him. It's stupid to give him the max contract when he has no bargaining power with the tag. He can sit out all day, but the team can also trade him with the tag, or they can make sure he isn't getting anywhere near the contract he wants until 2025 after teams spend their FA money.

The team will probably screw it up like they did in 2016 with Josh Norman

I've gone back and forth on Burns for the last few months. At the end of the day no matter which side I fall into one aspect that does not change is all this feels eerily familiar to the discussions we had about both Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore. Remember that at one point even Derrick Brown was talked about the way Brian Burns is now. I put the odds at 85% that if he is traded to a good franchise he experiences a career resurgence and we see a lot of tunes change here about him and folks act like they didn't want to trade him.

Last Off Season I was falling on the side of just pay the man but after this season I really hope they dont open up the pocket book and give him  a max contract.  Last season there were times I forgot he was even playing.   If a guy is worthy of a max contract fans dont forget said player is on the field.

That's the entire point. Our culture sucks and nothing is pushing our players to be the best they can be. Our coaches should've pulled Burns ass out of the game the first time it was apparent he was holding back.

If we pay Burns, we tell everyone in that locker room they can slack off on their contract year and get PAID.

The 2001 roster was probably about as bad, and yet we kept a number of players from it and ended up in the Superbowl two years later.

We had a bad team this year, but we shouldn't throw away every one just because we had a bad team.

Fair point.  I looked for the list and it is hard to compare, but I am not sure we should overpay.  In the past few years, there have been some bargains in free agency.  With this cap raise, I have no idea how the market will react.  I would not overpay for Burns, but I am not dismissing him either.  He is what, 24 or 25?  Lotta upside.  I'd pay $25m.  Why would I make Brown one of the highest paid DTs in the NFL?  He is good, and he never comes off the field.  That is a roster spot he is saving, salary wise.  Luvu?  Everyone loves his story, but in the NFL, he is not elite.  I would love to keep him.  So I do not see how resigning all three "rights the ship."  It will be interesting to see what they do.

Yes. That money will be spent.

Let it be spent on those who know what it is to be competitive at a high level and let them bring an attitude and work ethic and experience that the young guys can learn from.

Let it be spent on players who help build the type of culture you want for this team. Those who will fight and who make those around them better.

Blowing it on a guy who has all the tools, but who only brings it on occasion and who obviously just doesn't have that dawg in him would keep us stuck in the same rut of blah we've been on.

Paying him would send a horrible message to the other players that we don't expect the best from you. We just want you to show up and we'll pay you for what you might be capable of without expecting you to actually perform at a consistent high and competitive level.

I am expecting to see one or two of the following moves:

Tag and trade Burns.  In a contract year, he was not great.  Is he a one-trick pony?  A luxury for a ring chasing team.

Trade Theilen.  Hard sell because the draft is so loaded, but there are teams who could use a third WR who can grab 100 balls.

Pay Brown top DT money.  He is versatile, great, and he never leaves the field.  Worth 1.5 salaries.

Luvu gets a raise -he is a good  LB-- but he is not great.

    • Idk man, I think it’s necessary.  There’s people working 9-5s everyday that get told poo about what they aren’t and what they’re not capable of and they’re working for scraps.  These guys are making millions.  People are watching and invested because their team and fandom is a part of their identity and a big source of pride.  When someone like Bryce comes in and is given chance after chance after chance after proving he is not worthy of the position he’s being gifted, and he continues to be the biggest reason above any that we are losing, yeah…  I think it’s fair to call a spade a spade.  Am I saying Bryce the person is trash?  Bryce the person is a piece of poo?  Absolutely not.     I came up in an era, especially in basketball, where if you were fuging up people heckled the poo out of you.  I played in rec leagues as a teen where the fuging parents were calling kids trash and yelling poo like “TURNOVER!!!  TURNOVER!!!”  “CANT DRIBBLE!”  “CANT SHOOT!”  And that’s adults screaming that poo to kids like we were in the fuging Rucker lol.🤣🤣🤣  I went on to play basketball at a collegiate level and with professional players in different settings.  What those experiences as a kid taught me was to see if there is any merit to what people are saying, and if there is, then work my ass off til they can’t say that anymore.  Come back better, tougher, harder.  And I did.  If kids can figure that poo out, an adult calling another adult who is bad at his job while making millions and millions of dollars will be just fine.
    • I have tried to like this team, lord knows I have tried. BY9 is a nice young man, if I had a daughter he can take her to prom, but he ain't QB1 and he's not Cam or Delhomme Chuba is a average RB, he isn't Stephen Davis, he isn't J-Stew McMillan has the makings of a good WR, but he isn't 89/Moose D. Brown is a great player, but if the game was on the line I want Kris Jenkins       I miss this brand of football, even in the bad Jake games the games were entertaining It has been nearly 8 years now of watching numb football
    • I'm not so sure. Something about the whole Frank/Bryce situation seemed off from day 1. Bryce didn't fit Frank's QB mold as well as Stroud, then he basically gives up when Bryce is named starter in preseason but gets virtually no reps in games. Then he looks completely unprepared and Dalton steps in in Seattle, has a decent game under immense pressure, and it's right back to Bryce. All his mechanics are terrible and he's having the worst rookie season ever and Frank doesn't bench him?  You dont have to be a conspiracy theorist to know Bryce wasn't ready to be a day 1 starter. Everything with Bryce, then coaches, and the FO seemed forced.
