Is Rome Odunze Falling?

They go through weird phases like that. You'll see guys like Brock Bowers going in the top 3 one moment And then you've got him available at 33 the next time and then he's back in top 5.

I try not to take it as exact players when I mock, even though there's guys I prefer over others. I think it's more about positions that would be available at that moment.

But the draft itself in reality is really wonky because there's guys that you and everyone are sure are going to go early who inexplicably fall and then there's others that go much earlier than all the experts go.

You never know what really any team has in mind when they go into the draft and you can't predict what they will do when their board changes.

Maybe teams see a player fall that they were sure would have gone earlier all of a sudden fall a bit below where you thought they would go and then think maybe other teams passing them by know something you don't so you pass them as well. So many reasons for players falling where you think they shouldn't.

We think we know where players should go, but we don't know how individual teams actually perceive players that we mock to them.

So basically, as crazy as it is to see Rome there, it's good to see stuff like that happen because it prepares you for the actual craziness of draft day.

No one is falling right now, nor rising.  Thats all sports media.  Team boards have been set for a while now but youre going to hear all kinds of changes reported because thats what sports media has to do.   Odunze is clearly locked in at wr #3 at worst.  Nabers is the one the media is actually trying to push down right now "leaking" a lot of stuff about teams having character concerns.

Yeah that's the weird thing to me. What can these guys possibly do to raise or lower their "stock"?

It's all completely speculative in behalf of the draftniks who all feed off each other's takes.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
