CBS Sports’ way too early 2025 mock has Carolina ….taking a QB

Posting Just for laughs….or, maybe not

“The Carolina Panthers weren’t on the list of Deion Sanders’ preferred landing spots for his son Shedeur. But that didn’t stop CBS Sports writer Ryan Wilson from already projecting the University of Colorado star to the Queen City—and with next year’s No. 1 overall pick, no less.

Wilson, in his “way-too-early” 2025 mock draft, explains that a new quarterback may be on the horizon if the Panthers finish with the league’s worst record for the second year in a row:

If nothing else, using the betting odds means that, for the third straight year, the Panthers have the No. 1 overall pick. Hopefully first-year coach Dave Canales can get the most out of Bryce Young, but if that doesn’t happen … you’d have to imagine quarterback at No. 1 (for the second time in three drafts for Carolina) will be a talking point.

And with that pick, Wilson sends Sanders to Carolina:

Shedeur Sanders made huge strides in his first year as an FBS QB and he’ll be in the conversation with several other players to be the first quarterback drafted.

Sanders completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 2023”

Shedeur Sanders is just a fancier version of Teddy Bridgewater.

You mean the guy that was able to give us the best QB play we have had post Cam with shitty coaching. I would take an upgrade from that because Bryce sure as hell hasnt been.

    • The guy was there last year as the OC, DC just insisted on calling the plays live. I dunno if it will look any different other than DC getting freed up to focus on clock and time out management. Best case scenario they force Bryce to throw downfield more to see if he's actually able to do it, I doubt they add QB sneaks or much more play action due to his size.
    • I thknk bringing in a new OC also had to do with Canales being extremely slow recognizing what was happening on the field. He couldn't be HC and OC effectively and it showed.
    • Aho I agree with. Freddie was meh - it would have been nice if he stopped one of the goals he allowed, but all of the goals are pretty much difficult saves that were the fault of our turnovers behind the net.  Ghost is what he is - a puck moving, capable scorer damn who is not very good defensively. He usually relies on Boom and our forward line to help him out. Aho and Jarvy (and to a lesser extent Walker and Miller) were the biggest no shows tonight. Staal line + chatty/Slavin were the only reason we didn't lose by 3+ goals
