Training Camp Day 8

I looked around at some articles speculating on camp cuts. Thin on C. Like none. These the top bubble type players, cap casualties, etc.

There is some edge maybe out there and some OTs out there that can play G too. I don’t get to see Zavala every day and maybe they see something, but from what I have seen he could be cut and replaced by another swing capable guy that could G or T.

From what I could find of the waiver rules we are 1st refusal, based on our record and draft order...

That stays until Week 3 of the regular season concludes. A day after.

Meaning we could claim this guy, claim that guy, never losing 1st choice. I mean, you have to make a roster spot but that’s it.

I think. Thank goodness they couldn’t trade that to Chicago too.

Y’all should be coaches. You can already tell how these players are going to do in the regular season.

Well let’s see. We picked no day 1 starters in the draft. We won 2 games last year. We did upgrade to guards and WR 1 but every other position is the same or worse. Pretty good idea how it’s going to go

Not worried about Corbett at this point.

I don't know if they are trying to figure out the depth at oline or what.  I don't like the starting 5 not playing together.

Then again, as a Panther fan, I'm use to our oline sucking the first month of the season anyways. Why should this year be any different.

Browns just recently cut a former starting one and he's only 28- Brandon Allen(sp?)fyi I think the rams were planning on making Colbert the starting C and Allen won the job the last week of TC.

there's Conner Williams and he stated last year , but coming off a ACL. Took a physical and the reports are he wants more money. seahawks are like the Panthers low on cash.

after that, its awful thin. Honestly Larson whom played here many moons ago as a super sub, is the best pick.

Just sad, they have not had a NT in 2 years and now in 90 man camp with no one that had a single NFL snap and only one college player that mained C. poor young.....

Brother you better start. Reports are he's having trouble with the calls and has about 5 ultra low snaps each practice.

It's not fair compared to a full season, but it was almost 260 snaps.  It just seems like a unnecessary long shot to take.  There's so much concern over a rookie doing it, but I'm concerned that Corbett playing Center is gonna be a huge problem.  They might have to put Jansen in there and have Young stand back 20 yards.

Advantage : Young can see over his lineman

Disadvantage : It will take all his arm strength just to pass back to the LoS

Saw that. Rams released him too. It was a little confusing, I didn’t push a search. I think he was released by the Rams after 2023 and signed with Cleveland and was released on injury deal and went to the Rams where the same thing happened? I was confused over it but being released so quickly was a red flag to me so I didn't mention him.

He is hurt at the moment I think. And he may be a vested vet which keeps some of them, off of the waiver wire they go straight to UFA. Or vet FA, whatever it is. But they can sign wioth whoever and can’t be claimed.

    • Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
    • Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.
    • Option A:  Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B:  Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position.    How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid?   When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam.  Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
