as in, big bodies standing in front of him.   Take the pick or where he hung Thielen out to dry.  He can't see well enough.  The pocket exists.  Time too.  He gets the throw off.   Bryce is just miniature.  And you got at least 10 giants clogging his view.  So they are bad throws and not seeing what is there.

Wasn't that the rap on him before the draft though?  One of the common points on him was he excels outside of structure.  That's kinda why I thought we were getting some form of Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray.  Not quite as athletic, but perhaps smarter and a better QB overall.

It goes back to your point about the offense not really being suited for him.  Shouldn't they be trying to create more situations outside of the pocket where he can actually see?

Canales' presser

• Was late to the podium because he was playing with his kids after practice. That practice felt right. Guys are getting used to the cadence of what they're doing and they got full speed reps on their punts + punt returns. Energy + intent felt right. Gotta watch the film for execution. Offense was good and had good rhythmic plays that happened. Had Peppers speak to the team afterwards. Message that Canales took away from it was the locker room. Sure, big plays and big things will happen but the best memories were with his teammates. The family atmosphere that the players create by learning about each other and their friends & families was good for guys to hear.
• Team meeting times and talking getting the football right has been his way of relaxing. Brought up some traditions (rookie talent show) and how coaches were involved. Creating a culture of connectedness. All of the things add up like going over plays at the hotel.
• Big meeting this afternoon re: starters for Thursday. Gotta connect with the staff to see who will be available and will make decisions after that. Bryce will not play. They're going to take it week-by-week and evaluate whether or not they think he needs to be out there. Different situation from what they had in TB last season because it was a competition between Baker + Trask. "We know who our guy is and he's doing a fantastic job." Brought up the cadences, mixes, plays coming in, play clock awareness, etc. Also depending on them. Mentioned different models used to approach preseason around the league.
• Depth chart is fluid. 1st group is pretty good and then there's competition at every position after that. Every practice is important, especially in pads for evaluation. There's some stock to put into it, but it is fluid and there are opportunities for guys to show what they can do.
• Learned that Plummer is a hard worker and detailed in what he does. Felt he's been sharp with different changes at the line, the mechanisms and cadences. Showcased the big arm a couple of times and loves his mobility. Excited for the opportunity for him. He gets to go out there and do more than just some late 4th quarter work. For guys that don't make a team it's almost a year until they get actual game time, so this will be very important for Plummer's career.
• Gotta look at their numbers re: starters sitting like Bryce is. JD DiRenzo has an ankle injury. Gotta be able to play a full game with the guys they have.
• Feels like they can evaluate down roster with the way Plummer has been playing, so it won't interfere with their ability to see what other guys can do in game situations. Glad that he's here and going to give them the ability to evaluate their guys.
• Pushing guys to their limit but didn't like the defenseless receiver hit today because it was a foul. Rule #1 is be a great teammate which means protecting your teammate in those vulnerable situations which they've done a pretty good job of. Love the resilience that TMJ showed getting back out there today.
• Talking about Wallace, Canales knows that they knows what they're doing when he sees them playing at full speed.
• re: Bryce playing "You can't play scared, but you got to be smart" when asked by Person about injury was a concern for sitting QB1. Taking into consideration keeping guys they're going to depend on healthy. Live move the ball periods are very valuable at camp especially because they're tired at the end of the period. Will have that against the Jets and it will be even better for the team. Teams are moving from two-day to one-day joint sessions for a variety of reason. Coaches are asking for guys to go for it in practice, and it's good for a new face to go against but the competition goes up a few notches. Saleh and Canales think it's smart to keep it to one-day because the fall out on day two is not only physical but there's pushing, shoving, tugging, and retaliation. Want to limit that part of it and have guys focus on getting their shot.
• Pre-game routine: get his workout in before. Most excited to see "our team play like us." Wants to see the team play hard and finish through the echo of the whistle. Want to play at a high level, especially when tired. Wants to see the guys not in connected to the plays because that's what creates bonds: enthusiasm and support. They bring the juice, and that's the selling point. When they are at home, they love fans being behind us but they have to create it. They got to run and hit. Excited to be at the center of making calls with the referees (ie: accepting/declining penalties) that he's seen but hasn't gotten to experience yet.
• Having Diontae + Adam absolutely helps with other receivers' route running. Talked up WR coach Rob Moore quite a bit. Having vet WRs accelerates the younger WRs learning. Also important is them teaching the young guys how to take care of their bodies, how to recover, how to prepare, etc. They have a great presence on both sides of the ball from their veterans.

I wouldn't play him either behind this OL and chemistry still developing in practice.  Stabilize things first before live bullets start flying.
