Sax's 2024 Season Prediction: Nope

I want my Panthers to get better.  I also want to see what Bryce can do.  Bryce is the key this season.

If he is able to make the plays when they are provided (and there will be a LOT of running the ball), then I think we'll be better.  Maybe not winning more than 4 games, but that's double what we did last year.

If Bryce poos the bed and doesn't look like an NFL staring QB, then he helps us out to a top 3 pick where we can get a high level QB prospect and try again.

That's how I look at the season.  I HOPE that Bryce and Canales are able to have a productive season, that the Panthers are fun to watch and surprise a few people.  I know we're not deep enough to be good, but I'd like a few surprises here and there.

But if not, then Canales gets to pick his last QB in Carolina.  He'll either get his guy and do well, or he'll be out after year 3 or so.

i haven't been incredibly encouraged by what little i saw the first couple weeks of TC, so i haven't really been keeping up with them for a little while. I'm hoping that things will look better when the season starts. i do know my enthusiasm has waned a little. i think they are capable of winning. i just don't know that they will have it figured out for a while.

all i hope for at this point is they at least make it a little entertaining.

I have embraced the fact trainwrecks provide their own form of entertainment.

Nah.  Blame cycles are a thing.  Carolina most likely just has to acknowledge they don’t have a QB to compete.

nah....it will be obvious that coaching isn't the problem. they won't bail on Canales. it will be QB that becomes the priority next year.

Just now I was watching that fluky 88 yard touchdown from St Pierre to Gettis against Baltimore in the 2010 game. Honestly can't remember the last time a play that exciting has happened here. I guess maybe the Cam return but I think we all knew deep inside that it wasn't going to last. That it was just a fleeting feeling. But that TD... the crowd sounded so lively compared to it's (rightfully) nonexistent state today. It was a hell of a play.

Then something dawned on me. Good god. I'm feeling nostalgic for 2010. When that realization hit... all I could think to myself was "damn."

Was that the same game with the back to back pick sixes?

There are many examples, because you're skipping over a lot of seasons (and a few winning ones).

But the most notable for me was Luke picking off Russell Wilson and returning it for a touchdown in the 2015 NFC Divisional Playoff against the Seahawks. The stadium was shaking, it was so loud and active.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
